Not necessarily. Plenty of people make a full recovery from it.

From Wikipedia:

There's no known cure for Guillain-Barre syndrome, but several treatments can ease symptoms and reduce the duration of the illness. Most people recover from Guillain-Barre syndrome, though some may experience lingering effects from it, such as weakness, numbness or fatigue.

Thinking good thoughts for you, Travis.

Most people eventually make a full recovery from Guillain-Barré syndrome, but this can take a long time and some people have long-term problems. The time it takes to recover can vary from a few weeks to a few months, or sometimes several years. The vast majority of people recover within a year.

This is a serious condition though. He will need to be hospitalized and a blood transfusion is a possibility along with some type of immunological treatment. Basically his body is attacking its own nerve cells. Recovery is done on its own but treatment can speed up the process. There is a real possibility he is out for an extended period of time.

Dang,
Like losing a Sean Lee on the offensive side of the ball. He was one of the few really reliable "show up every game" players on the whole team.
Prayers for his recovery and NFL career.

God is all like "hmm, which positions do the Cowboys have the LEAST amount of depth in? OL and S? Yeah, let's decimate those positions."
