Not to mention they have a new Defensive coordinator and for anyone in Seattle to think Thomas can or will go in and play up to par is really far fetched.

Exactly. Seattle probably wishes he would stay out, saving them $600K a week. This might force their hand. If I were Jerry & co. I wouldn't budge on the 2nd round offer. Give 'em a deadline of tomorrow at noon and then take the offer off the table. And stick to it.

The NFL players union agreeing to something doesnt mean a thing. This same weak argument was used when people said Zeke had no right fighting his suspension. Having a union agree to something years ago doesnt make it right. It makes the union weak.

I am aware that a team can cut a player at anytime. I'm not sure where I said this was even a point of contention. Since teams dont have to honor a signed agreement and fans accept that as a business decision then the same fans should not look down on a player for seeking a new deal. Or in ET's case an extension.
Its well know that teams will cut players they dont feel are living up to their contracts all the time. Its also well know that many players want a contract extension before their contract is up. Playing in that last year shifts much risk on the player. This isnt some evil plan where the players are colluding to get over on the owners.

You felt the need to ignore the point of my post so you can rant on about obvious points that no one is even disputing. My 13 year old does that..
 
Dusgruntled players are headaches in the locker room... how bad does Seattle want a guy that doesn’t want to be there?

This trade can still go down.

Belly-aching about the terms of a contract you yourself signed is indicative of someone who is entirely likely to become a cancer on the roster... hence my analogy.

Mind you, as stated above, I can stomach his holding out to try to cause leverage.

But if he doesn't come back and perform with the best possible attitude in SEA for whatever time he has left there, then yes, that's an indication that he could be prettier today, and increasingly uglier in the long term.

I may have missed your point. You may have also missed ET point in his holdout.
He wants an extension not necessarily more money. I'm sure he wants that also though.
He is holding out because he wants the team to invest in him for more than just this season. This doesnt make him some malcontent.
He doesnt want to risk injury in the last year of his contract. I can understand that.

I'm no that's giving them a 2nd round pick at that point. And neither will the Cowboys.
 
How much did he lose in missing OTAs? It was an absurd amount last I saw, several tens of thousands per missed practice.

And SEA doesn't mess around (see: Chancellor, Kam), they recouped that money.

You're assuming that Stephen, or whomever is running this show, will spend on elite FA talent (or elite $), which we have had zero indications of going on since Carr's contract (not calling Carr elite, but his contract was borderline elite money)
 
Actually getting interesting. Seahawks countered with a 1st Cowboys evidently not willing to do that, ball back in the court of the Seahawks do you take the 2nd rd. Most they can get in a comp pick next year is a 3rd as opposed to the Cowboys offer of a 2nd.

They said he has accumulated about $1.6 million in fines for missing mandatory minicamp and training camp.

A legitimate possibility. Maybe Seattle's spiteful GM wants to make it appear like he's "won something" by forcing the player to report.

From everything I'm seeing and hearing, Seattle's decisions are being driven by spite, not what's in the best interests of the team. Any owner with a brain in his head would step in.

Not really, similar to the Adrian Peterson saga, what he wants is a new deal. We're just being used. Now there is legit interest in playing here, but he'd take an extension from Seattle that paid him what ever he thinks he's worth. In the NBA, GMs tend to cave a trade franchise players for pennies on the dollar. Not so much in the NFL, which is crazy considering NBA players have guaranteed deals and can't really not report. Pretty serious consequences if they do (or at least I think).
