This is very simple. They got away from the running game waaaaaay too early. Tried to be a passing offense but Dak is the wrong QB for that. We are a running team! Run the ball! How hard is it? You get stopped once or twice, that doesnt mean you give up and pass on every down.

They got away from the running game because the first 4-5 possessions had so many penalties and negative plays that they were always in a 3rd and long.

Sticking with the running game wouldn't have helped. The problem is when the defense is keying on the run, Dak and his receivers can't take advantage of it. The Panthers have a great front 7 but their DBs are average. That is where you attack them. But Dak is really stinking up the joint and his receivers can't get open. So the passing game does not help the running game.
