Let's think about this before we go firing Garrett

If you fire JG, it wouldn’t make much difference. The Offense wouldn’t change till the end of season. I would start with a new playcaller first. That would put a fire under JG. Linehan is his last scapegoat.

Correct!!

Which whoever was behind the decision to go with Dak should be gone. If that was Garrett the decision will be much easier for Jerry. And no new HC will want to stay with Dak.

Which means a complete start over basically. I just can’t see Jerry admitting to the mistake.

I can't see that before I can see the old man rewarding him with that big, fat contract if he continues to play this poorly.

If things stay the way they are, I don't think Dak would get anything more than an opportunity to compete in 2019.

TBH I haven't been following. Like I said I got totally frustrated over the years and life things took precedent over watching JG look mediocre for years. I also knew Jerry was going to hold out and not fire him when he should to prove he was "right" about his coaching hire.
It’s not just about being right in his coaching hire. It’s about having a HC who isn’t going to recieve more credit than him if we have success again.

Jerry isn’t interested in winning if he doesn’t recieve more credit than he did with Jimmy. That’s what’s been driving his passion for decades.

LOL judging a coach after 1 game but the guy who has been here 12 years already HC for 9… he's OK. I don't care one bit what those other coaches are doing. It's way past due to end this garbage experiment. Once again a ridiculous Jerry decision killed his own football team.. and that will just continue. I guess all coaches suck?? Can't possibly find someone better so why try? What a very poor and sad argument considering the looks of this football team. Jerry is a POS. And Garrett flat out sucks.

First of all I don’t think it’s as bad as we saw Sunday.

I think it will improve enough to resign him while not being enough to take us where we want.

There will be other contributing factors and scapegoats Jerry will use to continue on.

And he might not recieve the big fat contract. It could be much smaller.

This isn't "one game", this is eight years.

No, for THIS YEAR it is one game. Every year in the NFL is different. I don't know for a fact, but I venture to guess you were throwing in the towel in 2016 after Romo went down in the 3rd preseason game and look how that season ended. How about letting a few more games go by before calling fire and rain down from the heavens.

.... we go firing JG. A new broom does not necessarily sweep clean. Still a new broom is a new broom

The NFL is a cruel business that can stomp out a blooming bud before it has a chance to flower.

The cold fact was no more evident than in Week 1, as each team aiming for a fresh start with a new coaching staff stumbled.

Teams with new head coaches went 0-7 in Week 1, the worst recorded by a group of new head coaches in NFL history, per NFL Research. The previous worst was on 0-6 Week 1 in 2001.

Of the seven, four of those losses were by 10-plus points, including both Monday night tilts.

Let's run down the sadness:

Steve Wilks, Arizona Cardinals, 24-6 loss to Washington: The Cardinalsgot run over by Adrian Peterson, and Sam Bradford looked terrible.

Matt Nagy, Chicago Bears, 24-23 loss to Green Bay: Nagy's offense dried up in the second half, and Aaron Rodgers returned from injury to do Aaron Rodgers things.

Matt Patricia, Detroit Lions, 48-17 loss to New York Jets: The Lions failed in all three phases, couldn't slow a rookie quarterback and watched its $100 million signal-caller throw picks like there was a 2-for-1 sale going.

Frank Reich, Indianapolis Colts, 34-23 loss to Cincinnati: Andrew Luck looked good. The QB didn't get enough help though, and a Jack Doyle fumble-touchdown destroyed a comeback attempt.

Pat Shurmur, New York Giants, 20-15 loss to Jacksonville: Eli Manning threw a pick-six that ended up the difference.

Jon Gruden, Oakland Raiders, 33-13 loss to Los Angeles Rams: The Raiders took a 13-10 halftime lead on a smart offensive game plan. Then they did nothing in the second half.

Mike Vrabel, Tennessee Titans, 27-20 loss to Miami: In a game remembered most notably for its series of delays, the Titans not only lost Vrabel's first game, but it also saw Delanie Walker, Taylor Lewan and Marcus Mariota get injured. Woof.

It's kind of a skewed stat though. New coach usually equals a poor team from the year before.

At some stage it will dawn on Jerry that he will not win another SB in his lifetime unless he cleans out and starts again. That's when real change will occur.

JG is a loser. Linehan is a loser. At this point, the entire offensive coaching staff are losers. Time to take out the trash
and get the rebuild started. Actually, if we could take Jerry and Stephen to the dumpster that would fix 90% of our
problems.

I’m not sure Jerry wants to win another Super Bowl unless it’s his way recieving the credit he didnt with Jimmy.

What's funny is people actually think things will improve???!!!! A dozen years aint enough for them. This is a joke.

I don't think they have to rebuild. You get a better coach with a better scheme. They have pieces in place, but the coaching definitely needs to be upgraded. And the evaluation process.

Sadly the Jones family is here to stay. So it's just more of the same...

Things will have to improve a lot for that to happen.

A lot.

********.

It's 8 years.

8 years of a fraud head coach who should have never been gifted his job in the first place.

How many more seasons do you want to let "go by" before you realize this?

You are probably right. But, we can all hope that the time for Jerry's departure is coming to the Star near you.

Well it's not one game, because the team looked exactly as offensively inept as it did last year, that's the problem.

If they struggled with a new system or were trying different things and it didn't work, then fine. But they didn't do anything different.

No, they did not look as offensively inept as they did last year. They looked as offensively inept as they did PART of last year. They were offensively inept in 6 games and above average in 10. The Carolina game is just one game - it is completely reasonable to see how the next few games go before making any decision.

I just shook my head when I saw Garrett telling the players on offense "Good job" and patting them on the back when they were coming off the field after like the 5th drive where the offense stalled.

He is more concerned with portraying the right image as a HC than actually doing what it takes to be a good HC

Sean Peytons superbowl ring gives him the benefit of the doubt.
JG and Company wasted the careers of Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Dez Bryant, Demarcus Ware had to leave to win anything.

Do you like our chances to beat the Rams?
Even if we beat the Giants (which i dont believe we will) we are still a bottom half of the league team.
Not only that...but Payton has almost always had pretty potent offenses in New Orleans. Drew Brees is far more prolific than Prescott. Their lack of defense has let them down more than anything. They are in a place not unlike where the Cowboys were in the middle years under Romo...potent offense, lackluster defense. Once you give the QB the money you better have your pieces in place because you will have less to spend on maintaining talent going forward...something the Cowboys will soon be faced with if they fork over the money to Prescott.

It's reasonable in year 9 after a dumpster fire on opening day. The 'ineptitude' was very different on Sunday. Looking at a passing game with no Dez or Witten What was supposed be a brand new start looked more like a complete mess and you think some fans are being hasty with this decision. I would've fired Garrett before the game even started. lol The first team to go into the season with an interim coach. This team is in trouble and you saw it coming 9 years ago.

Bull****.

One game is not a season! I've been on record that if the team is not competitive and doesn't reach the playoffs this year a change would be in order, absent some very extenuating circumstances, and maybe not even then. And, frankly, if Sunday is the norm for this year and they are something like 2-6 at the 1/2 way point, I'm on board with a Wade type change. There's simply no justification to do it after 1 freaking game. Unless, of course, one wanted Garrett fired before that game so it just fits one's particular narrative.

I'd first get rid of surly, backstabbing, stubbornly lazy Linehan and his adopted son, Kellen Moore. The Cowboys will not win with this man as OC. Then I'd hire Jim Caldwell as OC. Then let Garrett have the rest of the season to salvage it. If he can't, he's gone.

Jim Caldwell would do wonders to restore Dak's confidence after he was left to be slaughtered in the Atlanta game by the total incompetence of Linehan and Garrett. (And yeah, I might not be so trusting in my coaches after that).

Jim was the coordinator who saved Harbaugh's butt and got the Ravens a Super Bowl.

So, you reading me, Jason, Jerry and Stephen? DO IT NOW.
