The odd thing about the offseason was that did try for Watkins, got outbid by the Chiefs and then sat on their hands till Hurns became available.
So, they were looking at a potential #1, I say that cause Watkins has been a huge tease in the NFL, and were going to offer him decent coin to come here.
So, they did try for a #1/#2, lost and said "everything is fine", till Hurns took a team friendly deal.

Garrett and Jerry were the last one to sign on to cutting Dez from reports I read.

It’s believable. Garrett drafted Dez and has seen him grow. No way Garrett pushed for his release.

Oh I know, just saying it was odd that we did go after a "big fish" in free agency but after that didn't bother trying for Richardson/Moncrief etc.
Cause I would guess our offer to Watkins exceeded the deals to Richardson/DM in terms of AAV but wasn't as high as the Chiefs offer.
Which just makes me believe they knew they needed an upgrade at WR.
