I think we are still figuring out what works with this offensive group. It seems to me that Austin, Thompson, and Zeke are our playmakers but the TE's and other WR's not so much. The TE's especially are just awful.

We need to move away from 12 personnel and play more 21, 11 and 10 personnel with Thompson and Austin our primary receivers and a mixture of the others (Swaim, Rico, Olawale, Beasley, Hurns, Williams and Gallup) making up the last two spots in the 11 on the field in any given play.

Dak 16-25 160yds

Not elite numbers.

Take away the TD pass and it’s 15-24 96yds.

That's not really how the game played out though.

IMO we felt in control the whole game and were in "risk-free football" mode fairly early on. When we needed it, Dak played a few option reads and we easily moved the ball.

I didn't see a need for us to test Apple and Jenkins too much. They're a good CB pair IMO.

1. Tavon Austin - I can't remember last time Dallas had receiver with this kind of burst. Mismatch on field. I watched Jenkins (NYG CB) shut down Dez for years. Austin made him look like small child on skates for 1st time. He starts from here on out.

2. Dorance Armstrong - First time I have seen rookie DE bull-rush OL like he was channeling Reggie White. If he adds a move or two I think he can be as good as Tank within few years. Freakish strength for rookie.

3. TEs - please leave me alone. Dress none of them next week except for Rico.

4. Dak - wasn't great but much improved. Clear to me he needs to involve his legs to balance out other deficiencies. If he can somehow get onto roll this is dangerous team with great RB and improving D.

5. Defense. Offenses look like they are in mud trying to move ball on this defense. Might have reached tipping point of Dallas defense being more talented than most of offenses they will face.

7. Taco. Might be most improved player on this team. First time I saw him in TC (last year) you could see how dangerous he could become if he added strength. You now have player who might have longest reach in NFL who is getting taste of QB sacks. Early in his development and could get considerably better.

Agree with all. There are a lot of improved players on D. Byron Jones get's my vote but yeah Taco looks like a light came on. Kavon Fraser has improved too. If we can just keep Gregory clean and healthy and get Irving back and his head straight, this D is gonna be special. Doomsday? No, never but special yes. Cautiously optimistic. If our O can somehow manage 23-24 points/game and we can stay healthy on D it's gonna be an fun season

No, he missed 2 throws and we moved the ball which won the field position battle. I've been saying all Dak needs to do is make teams respect him and we won't be picking all that high in the draft. When given time, Dak looks good.... Stop me if you've heard that before for QBs.

If he can keep this up, we will win a lot of games.
The great game by the defense last night made everything look good. If the defense collapsed last night we would all be talking about Dak throwing for less than 100yds for the game after the first drive.

I especially agree with point 6.

We need to get a good backup QB. I think Dak is mainly top notch when he is running the ball and risks injury. It is what it is and its a chance that needs to be taken if thats the type of QB he is but we need a plan B in case he gets hurt.

Dak made some crucial first down runs.

Personally I don't think Dak is a dainty little guy who is going to get hurt from running around. Also I recall Donovan McNabb had a fairly decent career and he wasn't a pure pocket passer either. But his size and the ability to scramble to pick up yards with his feet and knowing when to slide helped him.

I think the o gradually improves and grows as the season progresses and the d is gonna be top 5 all season long. I don't see us as a contender but the playoffs are attainable, especially from our division.

Yeah, stats never tell the whole story.

TOP favored the Giants last night. And even though Dak had <200 yrds passing, he did supplement with almost 50 yrds in running.

After two games, its obvious we aren't who we wanted to be. Or thought we were. We're going to have to get wins in other ways.

Props to the staff for coming up with a game plan trying to play to the strengths of our players. Even if we had lost, that was still good to see.

TOP only matters if you are scoring points, we scored more points and kept them from doing so on defense.

Other than the miss with Rico in the endzone Dak had some really good accuracy. He was pinpoint on most of his throws.
Take away the long pass to tayvon, and dak had a whopping 96 yards..... get the hell out of here about his accuracy. If dak does not run, he sucks. 160 ish stinking yards.... are you kidding me? Our defense is legit...wait till Irving returns, and hopefully Gregory in there...... but unfortunately unless our defense is like the 85 bears or the 2000 ravens, we are in trouble.

Dak Needs to develop a Cam Newton like Rungame or he is toast as a Starter. If you cant even put up 200 Yards of passing with one pass in the opening of the game going for 65 Yards you are in Trouble in this League.

I think its 10 Games in a Row now with Sub 200 Yards passing.
Uhhh, penalties and dropped balls negated at least 70 yards of passing completion yards. That would have easily had Dak at over 200 yards (230 actually).

I wonder how long it will take for Zeke to rush for 100 yards?

They need to the ball more to help out the play action.
