Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

How is it not good if we won the game? He did a great job at extending plays with his legs, which is one of his skill sets we need to use. His statistics mean nothing. What good are flashy numbers if we're not winning?

In this game, it is good, no question. But the Giants aren't a very good team, at least not at this point, I would submit if you're looking ahead at future games, like against the Falcons, Saints and Eagles, 20 pts probably won't be enough. Just that if you look at the SB winners in the past few years, they all scored at least 24 pts per game, on average, yes it's possible the defense can keep teams down to below that, but it's a good idea to get your scoring up...

16/25 for 160, that's a 64% completion rate and 6.4 yards par pass...which is bad onto it self......one play was for 64...which is good, but that means he was 15/24 for 96 yards.....and a paltry 4 yards per pass attempt.... that's ugly. really ugly... that means that teams don't respect the deep or medium throws and willing to gamble...yes they gave up a 64 TD pass, but that's one play....

one thing that was evident again last night, in the second half TD drive, he was setting his feet and making the throws...they were on target and had zip....then he was ugly footwork again for a lot of the other throws....

Couldn't disagree more, there's so much more to a QB then what his numbers suggest, Dak was totally in control last night, most of his incompletions came from pressure where he had to throw the ball away, and most importantly Dak was a huge weapon on the ground with the zone read, not only getting huge chunks of yards, but taking hits and bouncing right up, while moving the chains or keeping the team at manageable 3rd downs. He had 7 carries for 45 yards from your QB..

Using Thompson a lot also. That bomb to Austin was just what they needed. More deep shots during these games will back them defenses out of the box.

The whole team looked more in sync last night.

Defense has to work on tackling. They let barkley get way to much. Our first defender has to get him down. He should have been tackled for a loss at least 5 times.
You're right things were much smoother. Less looking confused and lost.

Your are spot on!1 I say lets ditch the bum and go get............... well that other great, perfect all pro Qb waiting on us to call.....

Woods and Gregory? Meh, hopefully they make an impact but those 2 don’t get me excited

Woods was to be the starter, meaning he was thought to be better than Frazier, et al. Of course it's not likely that Woods will turn into Darren Woodson or Mel Renfro, but any new guy who keeps improving gets me excited...

They didn’t ask him to throw for 300. Wasn’t that type of game. The film, the W, the rating tell the story.

What else could a detractor say today? Well what you’re saying. You have no basis.

You mean , they don’t ask him to lead the team to score and get first downs. Interesting …

Is it a realistic way to build a team for success? No way

Broncos won a SB that way (Manning in his last SB win was awful that year), Ravens build their team that way every year, and what was the Seahawks "claim to fame" for their SB win and appearance? The Legion of Boom, was it not?

More than one way to skin a cat. Or win SBs...

Your right. All 4 ended up out of bounds or overthrown.

Knee pads much ?!
The deep right sideline pass to Gallup was instructive. Gallup did a poor job by letting the CB force him too close to the sideline. Dak threw the pass in a pretty good (but not perfect) spot, giving Gallup a small chance of catching it, but there's no doubt it would've been tough to catch it and stay in bounds.

Our receivers aren't very good (in Gallup's case I'll add a "yet") AND our QB doesn't have pinpoint accuracy AND our line isn't the '16 line. Those things in combination have a multiplying effect on the passing game. It's not one or the other.

Dak was much better last night then he was last week. So that's good. Hopefully he keeps getting better as his confidence grows. But make no mistake, he still has a long way to go. But at least he's going in the right direction.

Before the year started I thought this was a 7 to 9 win team. I've seen nothing to change my opinion.

Dak was good at managing the game while the defense dominated the game. He didn't make any game altering turnovers. And that's a very good thing. He orchestrated a really nice drive in the 2nd drive. Kudos to Dak

But at some point Dak will have to win games with his arm. I see no evidence of that yet. He has a ways to go to get to that level. I'm not sure he can.

Also for context, I don't think the Giants win 5 games this year.

Wrong. He played well, but then you have to actually watch the game instead of just looking at the stats and backing out the longest play.
I agree. I think people want us to have another team's/QB identity. We are a run team. If Dak is throwing for more than 300 yards a game. I'm willing to bet we don't have a running back that averages over 100 yards per game for his career. It's almost no chance you can have both. If you are whipping teams that badly there is no need to play your starters for a whole game. My point is Dak plays well within our offense. That's all we need. We don't need Peyton Manning so that we can throw 300-400 yards a game because we have Zeke who runs for over 100 yards per game. We just need Dak to make plays when they are thwre. Our formula is similar to what we had in the 90s and what Cam Newton and the panthers had when they went to the super bowl around 3 years ago. A good defense and great run game. Cam Newton doesn't throw for 300 yard games his greatness is in his running ability. Dak isn't 6'6 250+ lbs but he is an effective runner alongside Zeke. Our defense is starting to look like a force. When Gregory and Irving get back watch out

Dak played much better last night.

He's no Trent Dilfer yet but he gave us some hope...

Agreed. He made plays when it was needed. He used his legs like we all wanted. He’s not going to throw for 250-300 a game like tony. Gonna run a lot and wear down the defense. He did miss gathers and few other plays but all in all we won. That defense tho :omg:

The ravens? You mean the team that’s made the playoffs one in the past seven seasons?

Take away that one throw to Tavon and this was a repeat performance of the Carolina game

He needs to get better on deep throws
He made 2 other deep throws. Gallup dropped one and on the other the WR was covered and he threw it OoB. Putting all of it on Dak is ridiculous others have to make plays and do their job too and sometimes the defense does their job.Dak ain't perfect, but there's room on the bus for all the other players and coaches that aren't either.

They haven't drafted well the last few years, have to have the players to run the scheme. That's on them, not the fault of the system...

Neither was Zeke. What did Zeke do besides get stuffed trying to run it up the middle over and over? If we are gonna pick apart Dak's game, do the same for Zeke.

In 2016 Dak threw for an average of 229 yards a game. But with a 1,600 yard rusher and stout o-line, a 13-3 record ensued. No, he's probably not going to throw for 300 a game but does he have to? Not necessarily...
