Prescott sees parallels to 2016 season

Dak Prescott isn’t ready to predict an 11-game winning streak, but he sees parallels to the Cowboys’ 2016 start with a loss in the opener and a win in Week 2, like the Cowboys have done in 2018. “From the vibe of this team, it feels a lot like the 2016 team,” Prescott said after filming a Campbell’s Chunky Soup spot with the football team at Frisco, Texas’ Lone Star High School. “Just that chemistry, that the guys want to be around each other, guys hanging out in the locker room, going to dinner with each other. We have a team that has each other’s back and when you have each other’s back and stick together the way we are, we’ve got a chance to do what we want.”

I see NOTHING like the 2016 team. This team will win with defense. This teams run game is ineffective thus far. Oline is average at best.

Elliott is averaging 4.6 YPC..far from ineffective.

Without checking, I know for a fact that YPC is at least a yard higher than the first two games of 2016 or 2017.

We aren’t getting the big chunk plays but we are still getting the dirty yards and the run game will only improve.

I agree, it does seem ineffective at times but the numbers don’t lie. It’s not like Elliott is breaking 60 hard runs to inflate his stats. He’s rarely caught in the backfield and he still consistently turns a no gain into 3-4 yards. The chunk plays will come.

I believe Dak is talking specifically about team chemistry. ESPN probably took Dak's words and tried to imply something that Dak was not even trying to verbally express.

except his Oline was way better..thats a huge issue right now, the entire line is worse then 16 at this point case in point obviously rookie at LG, Fredrick out at C then you see a declining Smith grabbing and holding more, LC doing just ok and that leaves what Martin..this is not 14/16 as Oline makes most teams go or do not.. see seatle and NY..if our line gels and Fred comes back maybe we get on run but as of now its tough o see a stretch of wins without continuity up front..
