Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

Nobody cares about his stat line, taking out the bomb. That’s not how NFL football works. The long pass to Austin happened. It’s something people have been asking for, and they got it.

That one event also affects the rest of the game.

The 58 minutes of the game after the bomb happened too.............. and he was not even average over that stretch.

You can try to ignore that but it would be foolish.

Dak has to be better. Much better. The Giants game was a step up from the Panthers debacle but the Giants game isn't anywhere where he likely needs to be for this team to threaten the division and maybe make some noise in the playoffs.

Sad but folks would rather see 350 yards 2 TD's, 2picks and a fumble and cannot understand why that is not conductive to "winning"...

I'll take the heavy run game, with less pass yards, no turnovers and stout defense any day and all day.

As long as we "can" throw down the field, that formula will be fine.

I’m not the one subtracting any plays. You are. It’s an asinine argument. Against any player, to subtract their best play.

I agree Dak has to be better. I think he did what he needed to do to help this team win but as we move forward he will have to bring more to the table in terms of hitting more of his passes. I did see him make a couple of good throws on 3rd down that would have moved the chains but were brought back on holding calls. Overall I think Dak did a decent job but he must do better.

No turnovers is the key with a run based team. In his career, Dak has played 19 games in which he hasn't committed a turnover and we are 18-1 in those games.

I agree. I think the poor pass to Gathers seem to me that Dak was being overly cautions with the throw instead of gunning it in there. Just my take on that play. I do agree ints are what hurt Dak and the offense last season and I think he is trying to avoid those this season but as QB he will need to take certain risk at times.

Heavy run game? Is that what we have now? I would love to see a heavy run game.

I am not surprised you are missing the point.

Essentially you want to pretend the last 58 minutes of the game didn't happen after that bomb.

Decent is the best word to describe his play overall. There were improvements from the Carolina game but there were still some real issues. You can't miss that pass to Gathers in the end zone, for example. And his passing in the 2nd half was barely adequate. 3 for 10 on third downs speaks to some of his ineffectiveness passing as well (the OL has their hand in that poor 3rd down play as well).

They need to get more productive running. Probably comes when Connor gets better and Freddy comes back. Hopefully Collins takes another upswing again like last season as well.

That O-line did better than the first game but nowhere close yet to that 2014 unit.

Exactly how I would beat Seatlle. Pound them with Dak and Zeke and go up top to Butler and Austin.
Yes, something they haven't done yet this year. Pound Zeke at them from a variety of formations though. Also, lose that shotgun stance. Let Dak take the snap under center.

I don't disagree with that. As I mentioned he did he a couple of 3rd and 7 and 9 that were called back due to holding. Dak has some other throws where he clearly sailed them out of bounds to avoid the sack or just throwing them up for grabs which I had no problem with. The over throw on Gathers to me it looked as if he was being overly protective with his throw when he did not have to. Dak is being careful with his throws and at times too careful.

Looney hasn't been that bad.

They are probably going to have to continue to run more read option to keep DEs and LBs honest.

No, saying his overall performance was “ok” not good but not bad. Encompasses both the bomb and the last 58 minutes. so Saying it was “ok” takes those 58 minutes into account, along with his best play of the game, which happened to be on the first drive.

It’s just dumb to evaluate a players game, but subtract their best play, that directly leads to a score, from that evaluation.

All true.

But all QBs throw the ball away every week to prevent a sack. 87 yards passing over the last 58 minutes of the game isn't very good. You aren't beating Minnesota or the Rams or Philly or someone that can score like Tampa Bay, throwing the ball for 87 yards over the majority of a football game.

You still aren't getting it. No one is "subtracting" his big pass play. But it's just one play over an entire game. And for the rest of the game, his passing stats were poor. To ignore that is just silly. He has to be much better and more effective over longer stretches of a game, not just on one big pass play.

In other words, he can't throw a bomb and then check out the rest of the game against really good opponents. That's the point.

No, I do get it.

I’m just saying it’s a dumb way to look at things.

No disrespect meant to you. I just disagree with the point altogether.

But I understand the point.

14 for 23
87 yards
3.8 ypa

That was Dak's stat line after the bomb to Austin in that Giants game.

I don't care how anyone slices it, that's not very good. He has to be much better/more effective than that going forward.
Can we add the pass plays that called back from a penalty?

As I said I do expect more from him. I think this past game given how defense was playing the worst thing Dak could do was force balls and give the game away. We will have games that we must get more from Dak if we expect to win.
