Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

I can’t believe this thread has gone on, this long.

Dak was ok on Sunday. Not great, but not bad either.

It was improvement from game 1.

If he hits the Rico touchdown pass, it would make the optics of his performance much better. But he didn’t, do it is what it is.
It's called having an agenda. Same posters beating the same drum, most of which are longing for 2006-2015 again.

That’s fair but overall assessment but saying “if he hits the Rico touchdown pass...” is empty. He didn’t. His accuracy, which is an obvious weakness of his is still a question.

I get that.

What I was trying to say was. If he does hit it, then I would view his performance as good, rather than ok. But since he didn’t, it doesn’t the very subjective View of a good performance.

So I agree with you. He needs to hit passes like that, for his performances to be considered “good”

I will say this about Dak, if allowed to play his game he can have success with this team and this offense, if Dallas tries to make him something he is not then he will struggle. He is not a pure pocket QB, his is athletic QB who will use his arm and legs to move this offense. Trying to make him something he is not is like trying to put a round peg in a square hole.

Everyone is on the Borltes train now that he beat the Pats, but against a common Giants defense Dak outplayed him. The Defense you play matters:

If Dak plays like that every week, it’s good enough to win every game. He had a good game. It’s obvious this teams identity will be defense this year.

Using that logic, wouldn’t that mean the offense was inefficient and couldn’t sustain drives and TOP?

I saw a couple drives derailed by penalties.

There was a little of that yeah in the drives that were stopped by penalties... But that wasn't Prescott's issue.

Then you had a Giants drive that lasted 11 plays and covered 23 yards but took a chunk of time off the clock– That was due to the inefficiency of the defense.

And finally you had the Giants consume additional time of possession in the 4th quarter on the onside kick the Cowboys special teams botched.

So there you go...

That's it.

Everyone says it's a "crappy Giants team."

It's not the whole team.

The Giant defense is darned good.

It's the offensive line combined with an aging and inefficient Eli Manning that is downing that team.

Offense won that game. On 2 drives. Because of Dak.

Everyone is crapping all over the offense but at what point is the defense going to force turnovers at more than one per game and give us a short field? Now if the defense forced a lot of turnovers, then I'd concede they won the game. But they didn't. They played very well but they hardly won us the game. Those 2 TD drives, which was the difference, had nothing to do with the defense.
Nothing to do with the defense? 6 sacks and a turnover had nothing to do with it? Holding them to 3 points until garbage time had nothing to do with it? It the Giants score the average 21 points, we lose this game.

I'm a Dak critic but I will say even though he didn't post a big stat line, to me he just looked much more comfortable and in command this week. He was decisive and getting the ball out quick. He made some tight window throws that he didn't even attempt in week 1. He missed a couple throws to Gathers, the one in the endzone was real bad, the other he was on the run so can be forgiven. I think it is extremely important is for Dak to hit them early on with those RPO's to get the defense back on their heels a bit.

Anyway, much better on the eyeball test this week, and we got the W. Keep it up.

After the second 64 yard touchdown pass, Dak went 15/24 for 96 yards, basically 4 quarters of football. I saw him throw four really good big league passes in this game. The touchdown pass, a deep out timing pass (probably the first time, I've ever seen him make that throw) and he threaded the needle twice into tight coverage. These are improvements. But 100 yards of passing through 3.99 quarters of football is not going to get it done.

He still runs outside the pocket and throws the ball away, when he needs to learn better pocket presence and be stepping up into throwing lanes while continuing to view the field.

14 for 23
87 yards
3.8 ypa

That was Dak's stat line after the bomb to Austin in that Giants game.

I don't care how anyone slices it, that's not very good. He has to be much better/more effective than that going forward.

Nobody cares about his stat line, taking out the bomb. That’s not how NFL football works. The long pass to Austin happened. It’s something people have been asking for, and they got it.

That one event also affects the rest of the game.

I agree with everything you said. I also think that you have to take advantage of his legs alot more if you really want to get the full benefits of what he has to offer. But because of the injury risk, if you do choose to use him that way, you have to get him a capable backup, somebody like RG3, who not only is capable, but had his most success in a similar offense, with not nearly as good a running back behind him.

Um...when there is pressure, and this is a trait you want to have in a QB, protecting the football; a common sense play that we almost never saw Romo use, and his career was shortened as a result.

You're both right.

he was much more decisive...which means he wasn't decisive before....and is he decisive enough...4 YPA taking out one exceptional play.... and 6.4 over all neither stat is any good...

sorry, dak was below average. the defense was good. outstanding in fact. the running game was good. that's about it.
Man.... Dak could throw a single 350 yard / 3 td game, and someone on this board will still have to tear him down "oh it's only one game" or whatever.....
Got your point though, just not sure it was necessary to point out. Lot of factors at work here and he is moving g in right direction. Give him more than a few games
