More like player after player and coach after coach aside from our HC loses their job yet the results are the same. Why does qb after qb stink here? Why haven't we been outside of the 2nd round after completely overturning the roster? We can blame everybody else for only so long.
Romo was a very good QB and made big mistakes that had nothing to do with coaching (ie fumbling the snap, the Washington game, I don’t think going to Cabo was a bright idea, there are many others). Dak is a 4th round QB and plays like it under pressure. Romo was undrafted and turned into a very good QB that didn’t regress under JG so what does that say about the coaching? Let me guess, it was all Romo, he coached himself, called his own plays and ran his own offense and he probably even performed surgery on himself.
I agree the coaching isn’t the best but as I’ve always said, this team has always been unbalanced on one side of the ball or the other. With the exception of a couple of players, my understanding is Jerry used to run the draft and lately it’s been McClay with Jerry still recently meddling in the 2nd round. The team is finally starting to look more balanced, not quite there yet though.
I mean seriously, do you think JG advocated having no true No 1 receiver or no TE? He was begging Witten to stay when most people here were begging Witten to retire. Yeah, it was about time for Witten to go, just as it was Romo and Dez but that doesn’t change the fact they did nothing to address glaring holes in our offense.
Until recently we had the best O line, Dez was in his prime and we had the leading rusher with Murray but we also had no pass rush, a shoddy secondary and questionable LB’ing depending on if Lee was hurt that week or not.
Point being, until the past few years and kind of this year as well, what you call over turning the roster is akin to shoveling a pile of manure over and over again IMO.
