Dallas Cowboys Holding Dak Back

Until last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, Dak Prescott had failed to surpass 200 yards passing in a game this season. He also had a pair of sub-200-yard games to end last season. In the modern NFL, with the rules skewed to encourage passing, those numbers are certainly cause for concern. Over that five-game stretch, the Dallas Cowboys went 2-3. But the most damning statistic? Over that same span, the Cowboys averaged 11.8 points per game — dead last in the NFL and almost nine points below the league average.

The shine of Prescott’s sensational 2016 rookie season has protected him from the criticism that has been heaped on his underachieving offense. Head coach Jason Garrett and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan have been viewed as the problem. Fingers have been pointed at the O-line’s regression after some key losses. The departures of Dez Bryant and Jason Witten have prompted some to blame a lack of playmakers.

LOL.....man does Dak have a Press Agent printing these BS articles ?????

Sell crazy waving Monkey ........no one is listening except your fellow Dak-bots......who are happy with the 30 th passing game in the NFL....

The fact is Dak hasn’t played well
Blame who you want but he’s missed open receivers and thrown bad passes
He’s got to do better and last week he did play better but he’s got to continue to improve

Every Qb misses open receivers sometimes. Try watching a few other games and you will see it. Happens every single game.

He needs much better play calling and coaching around him. Imagine if he played for the Rams. He woild absolutely tear it up. They have solid coaching and play calling.

I like how not one player since JG has taken over is responsible for their poor play. Missed FG? JG’s fault. Fumbled ball? JG’s fault. Interception? JG’s fault. Offsides? JG’s fault. Holding? JG’s fault. Pass interference? JG’s fault. Drafting? JG’s fault.

I get the coaching isn’t ideal but my god...I’d love to play for the Cowboys and never be held accountable for my mistakes by the media or fans.

Shut up Ranching! Zip it!

JG has been escaping blame for years now.. it was Wade, then TO, then Romo, then Dez, then Rob Ryan, Skip Pete, Dooley, even Jerry not letting him coach, the OL..

To be more specific, Garrett has been holding Dak back after his first season when he started to "coach him up".

A mediocre QB that becomes a less than mediocre QB coach, OC, and HC can only coach up a player to mediocrity.

It's Garrett way ahead of everyone.....just making sure we peak going into the playoffs, don't want to peak early...:)

We may get to see just how great he is with another coach because right now unless he plays much more like last week, he’s not getting a second contract
I’m not a fan of Scott or Garrett but they don’t prevent Dak from making throws, finding the open guys and playing much better
The same staff in 2016 and he played good. The staff hasn’t changed, the QB isn’t making plays
I don’t like our offensive scheme myself but it is the scheme and he’s played in it going on 3 yrs

I believe Dak has the tools to be a productive NFL QB. You would be lying if you say didn't think he should be our new franchise QB after his rookie year. Something happened in his sophomore year that falls on both Dak AND the coaching staff to figure out! Both are failing each other.

Hopefully last week they started to figure out how to get this team back to the 2016 offense and production.
They got some cob webs from TC worked out to get in sync and to be more consistent.

At the beginning of 2017, Dak was pretty much on top of his game and was one of the top QBs in the NFL. The Atlanta game came along and Dak took a nosedive since. The coaches need to step back and reassess what they should do to get back the Dak of old. This actually means Garrett and Linehan needs to do their work and craft an offense that fits Dak. Not the other way around.
