I couldn't decide between Romo and Witten, so I went with the man who literally left it all on the field. Heck, he still didn't want to retire after he broke his back. Witten would have garnered my vote, had he not retired in the 11th hour, prior to the draft this past off season.
 
I see a bunch of losers up there aside from Larry Allen & DeMarcus Ware.
 
It's always the quarterback. More people are going to remember Tony Romo than anyone else on that list. The only player who can rival Tony at this point is Ezekiel Elliott. But he's going to need an Emmitt Smith-like run through, to and in the Super Bowl to be considered the greatest Cowboy of the 2000s.
If it weren't for the quarterback position and its importance, it would definitely be Larry Allen. He's among the top 5 greatest offensive guards of ALL TIME! Romo is not among the top 5 quarterbacks of all times. But I believe fans will remember Romo more than Allen, and greatest, in many respects, is a popularity term in as much as it's a production term.

It wasn't Romo's fault that Dallas did not win any Super Bowls. The other players such as Witten, Dez Bryant, Crayton, Owens, and even Ware all came up small in the big game.

It is also not any other players fault we didn’t win a Super Bowl.

Personally, Jason Witten is the guy in my book. Arguably the #1 of all-time at his position, without question top 3, Cowboy from draft day to retirement, culture carrier, honorable man on and off the field.

While Romo’s broadcasting style is refreshing, I don’t think it shows he is one of the greatest offensive minds. I think it shows how great he is at reading defenses and what plays typically work against them. While he predicts a good portion of the plays, he also gets stumped when the offense does something they theoretically shouldn’t be able to do against a certain look.

After the initial amazement wore off for me, I kind of got the feeling he has a cookie cutter approach to running the offense. If defense does that, I must do this. AKA...predictable. Something Dallas has been accused of throughout the Garrett and Romo years.
 
At this point I have to say Demarcus Ware was the greatest. The only problem i had with him was he was too nice a guy. He didnt have that seek and destroy mentality. He basically carried the defense with garbage around him. I might say Romo after Warebut my biggest issue was the mistakes at crucial moments. I was Romo supporter for many years and I also defended him and made excuses for his mistakes. There was always some kind of excuse and after a while I realized the dude was just snake bit and didnt have it in him to hone his game into a premier elite QB. He had the talent, but not mentally and his vision was always suspect. He never seemed to see the LBs coming across the middle of the field from the opposite direction of his WR when throwing over the middle. Romo was a pretty good QB though.

Do we include LA's work from the 90s in this vote? If so this vote shouldn't be close.
 
Romo for me and it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. I understand some of those other players are HOF caliber players, and they made their mark, but Romo just stands out so much to me. He was extremely under-rated, kept this sad franchise afloat for many seasons, was a remarkable player, and came across as an all-around good dood. Not to mention he got very ripped off being hitched to lame coaching his entire career. I truly believe he has at least 1 ring on a well coached team.

Yeah, he was a gunslinger, but that is what made him so fun to watch. I always had confidence in Romo. Like the opening NY Giants game in 2015. Cowboys down with enough time for one drive. BOOM! Romo takes the team down the field and hits Witten in the end-zone for the gaming winning TD. That's my QB! :D
 
Allen is probably the greatest offensive lineman in NFL history , but I view him as a '90's Cowboy...........................

It's DeMarcus Ware....................He was our whole defense for a long time..............................Romo and Witten had each other , along with Dez , TO , Terry Glenn (rest in peace) , etc...................
 
For me 2000’s means 2000-2009 so I voted for Ware.

But if you mean greatest Cowboy since 2000 (which I think you do), then I would have chosen Witten.

Yeah Witten spent his whole career with us and other than Ware he is probably the only Cowboy that started their career with us after 2000 going to the HOF
 
Should have just put Tony Romo is the greatest Cowboy ever. Ray Charles could see what the overwhelming answer would be.

“Most overrated Cowboy of the 2000’s” would have been more appropriate based on the majority of votes.
