Wouldn't say he is the best. But just for something different - Laroi Glover was very underrated. Really good player on some really bad teams in the early 2000s.

Jay Ratliff deserves a mention as well.

I don't think it was based on who was the best in their respective position. I believe it was based on the impact that player gave to the team.

I could see that interpretation too.
Biggest impact? Then it'd be Witten or Ware for sure.

You know it' hard for me to say. I thought it would be easy to pick Ware or Witten ( if we counted the 90's I'd probably pick Allen) but because of the position it's hard not to pick Tony. Even though he's not a HOF'er he kept the Cowboys relevant during the 2000's so I'm picking him.

I don't think injuries lock Lee out of consideration entirely, particularly if he retires a Cowboy.

In a few years - Tyron, Martin, Fred, all are candidates, if we get a Lombardi or he improves greatly, Dak is as well. If they keep up their current playing levels, so are D. Law and B. Jones.

Abilitywise, Lee certainly belongs with the others I've mentioned, and some could argue that Romo had his own share of injury troubles.

The others you mentioned are certainly on their way to deserving a spot among the best this team has fielded, and probably an argument could already be made for Tyron Smith. It's easy to forget that he's in his eighth year, although the back issues serve as somewhat of a reminder.

I had Tyron on the list but swapped him for Barber as I wanted another figure from the 2000-2010

Has to be Romo, Ware and then Witten for me.

Romo was a top 5 QB his entire career in a pass happy league. He compares extremely well to his peers in every category. He also owns virtually every Cowboys passing record and a few NFL records.

Ware was impactful on the defensive side which is very tough to do in the modern era. He changed games as a defender.

It's more accurate to point out that Romo elevated the team more than any other player on that list. When a team goes (.614) when he starts and (.303) when he doesn't play, that's pretty hard to ignore.

Obviously a team that goes .303 when he doesn't play isn't going to be good enough to win a SB. Check out the Pats when Brady misses a game. They don't go .303. And check out the 90s Cowboys when Aikman missed a game. They were like the Pats...they even won a playoff game without Aikman.
