The consequential plays that HOU made when they made them were elite plays, and most teams don't make those very often. Hopkins pretty much willed them to that win with that last ballet down the field.

Make no mistake... our safety play still is lacking overall, but I think there were signs of progress, and the bigger deal is, I think most of us think our young LBs just began to make a name for themselves.

Doesn't matter how the defense plays, if the offense can't score more than 20 points, they will continue to lose. In fact, the defense is there so that we can continue to watch the game until the very end.

Defense played well in the red zone. But they were beaten up for much of the game between the 20s. Couple that with a totally inept offense and we are 6-10 at best. I know some people try to find the positives no matter what, but come on man with playoff talk.

That was a mediocre to bad Texans team we lost to. That's a week after coming within an eyelash of losing to a Lions team that is pretty average.

As long as we see the offense we saw last night, this team is a long shot to make the playoffs even if this defense plays well.

I had to actually look at when this was posted. I was sure it was early Sunday afternoon, but I was wrong. We're not making the playoffs with 5 wins. We would need a 2000 Ravens or '85 Bears type D to make up for this offense. We don't have that defense, and our offense is slightly worse than the 2000 Ravens.

I always try or shall say tried to look for positives, but also be realistic at the same time. But now I just can't see any positives. Well not many. And that is being realistic.

Up to 2 years ago, mostly looked at the positives in spite of Garrett. But now, way too many negatives which are realistic as well.

Only positives last night. Jaylon and LVE. Zeke runs hard and plays hard every play. DL overall decent but must finish those sacks, as Watson escaped too many times and completed the pass. Something Dak does not do, complete the pass very often.
CB's still play very good coverage, but can't cover every player all the time. S's still suck, way too many open receivers.
Oh, and the other positives, TE's played well catching the ball. Swaim very well, Jarwin and Rico their 1st catches. However, why didn't the coaches have more plays for rico. Once again, something that works, then they don't use it.

So Zeke, Jaylon, LVE, TE's positives.
all else the usual crap.
Coaching again cost us as usual too.

Sorry that that didn't come across. I thought it did, but maybe I was mistaken.

I get it that some people think the Texans are not that good. I just disagree. We'll see how the season pans out for them, but "how good a team is" is NOT a static thing. It's constantly moving from game to game within a range.

I believe the Texans played about as well as they're capable of playing last night, and we still held them to 16 points in 60 minutes.

The problems on offense are all well-taken. But that's a different discussion. I stand by my conclusion... if we can play that well against what was, imo, the Texans best version of themselves, we're going to win enough games to make the playoffs, though yes, uglier than anyone would ever hope we would.

Well, first of all, the 2000 Ravens defense wasn't merely a playoff team, of course.

We don't have to turn into a historically elite defense just to make the playoffs... that's nonsense.

The way I see it from here, the trade deadline is 3 weeks away. We'll have 2 games and then a bye week.

If we can make a deal for a stabilizing force at safety with a team that has mostly given up on their playoff hopes, I see us having a defense that can get us to 10 wins.

Unless we lose both of the next two games ourselves, I think we're definitely a trade market buyer this year.

I don't care what the division looks like after 5 weeks, by the end of the season the Cowboys will be fighting the Giants for last place in the division. The defense is good, but not great. The got their first INT in 5 games last night. Think about that.
