Let's revisit a few past moves this team has made

This organization made some terrible moves this offseason starting with how they handled the wide receiver position. Stupidity and arrogance IMO.

But there are a few moves this team has made in the past few seasons that are helping this team out now.

Choosing Jaylon Smith over Myles Jack seems to have been the right move. Not only do they have a solid linebacker but they also have a guy who can rush the passer.

Brett Maher over Dan Bailey. Another stupid move by this organization. Or so I thought. I don't know if it was this team having zero faith in Bailey to return to form or too much faith in Maher. The guy has been GREAT. Even his makes are looking better and better by the week.

LVE. What can you say about him? This team was essentially winless without Sean Lee and some of the games were historically bad for the defense. Wow what a year does. Ridley is having a great year but this is how you replace a player like Sean Lee. Do it while he's still on the team. Don't wait until you cut him or until he retires and be left with nothing. What I like about LVE and Jaylon is they look the part. They look like machines out there playing.

Re-signing Joe Looney. I think at best we thought he was a decent backup. I don't think any of us had any faith in him actually starting for us at center and he has been very good. He looks to be in the best shape I've ever seen him in.

Moving Byron Jones back to corner. Long overdue. He wasn't a bad safety but he's now looking like a potential lock down corner and making it easier to forgive this team for going Zeke over Ramsey.
Agreed, except for the last point - Zeke was the right pick.

they made a legit move to get Sammy Watkins. even offered him 16 million but he chose Kansas city. there weren't a lot of other options in free agency. they drafted gallup. he's shown the ability to be an outstanding receiver. just needs more time in games. imo, it's garrett and linehan who are the weak links. but garrett is jerry's boy. no way he's Stephen's boy.

Let's add in the trade for Austin. It's been working out well for us and has given the team a legit deep threat we haven't had before.

The Austin trade was a steal and we gotta credit Jerry for that.

All very good moves, at the Draft I was livid they didn't get Ridley. As it stands right now we made the right move.

Yeah I liked the Austin trade. I still want him to get more snaps.

In regards to what? The Byron Jones move? I give them small credit for at least writing the wrong. In years past this team has had a problem admitting they were wrong. Moving Byron back to corner admits you were wrong.

So if I'm following along correctly, you are giving them credit for:

A) Correcting their own mistake
B) Backing off slightly from their stance that they can never be wrong in any decision that they make.

I'm not speaking about one game. I'm speaking about 2 years of this. This guy needs to be playing guard. Did you see him last week?
I've been begging for this dude to be moved back to LG (he's not a tackle!!!) and try Connor at RT (who doesn't have the strength of a guard).

Awesome insight Bro. The Organization messed up at WR, but the least they could do is commit to developing the guys they view as long term Cowboys (Gallup, Lenoir). Hurns n Thompson won't be Cowboys next season in all likelihood, so get these youngsters up to speed, so their making plays by the end of the season and trusted vets heading into next season.

Completely incorrect. Connor has NFL strength which is why he was considered by many to be the best OT in the draft. The only reason he wasn't a first rounder was due to injury questions.
His scouting report touted a "power-packed frame".

Might want to check your source, it's bad.

It's not a source at all, and unrelated to his scouting report. The guy simply gets no push in the run game from his side....and you need your guards to be maulers in the run game. Maybe saying it's strength related is a bit lazy as it could be technique, personality, or any other number of things that I maybe don't know about playing guard in the NFL. I'm not even saying I've seen something that suggests he would be better at RT, but I am positive that Collins is a bad RT and would better fit back at LG so I'm willing to try Connor at RT.

Basically, my entire line of thought is more about Collins and less about Connor.

Edit: Though just to clarify, I checked his combine results and he wasn't even top ten in bench press amongst OLinemen and his scouting report on NFL.com says "Core strength appears to be average." I feel like lack of strength may have something to do with his struggles after all.

I would add knowing when to drop out of the bidding for WR Sammy Watkins. Although, the Cowboys were offering around $14M/year which was crazy before getting outbid. Got a little lucky in my opinion that the Chiefs outbid them. Watkins is good but hasn't done much this year and nothing anywhere close to $16M/year.
Jerry always thinks they are just one player away from the promised land, that and his river boat gambling fever has taken it toll on this team in the past, not sure it will change but at least he didn't get Watkins as Dak couldn't get him the ball anyways and they saved a ton of money.

Dumping the overpaid head case Dez has to be the best move of the offseason for sure.

I can't say that. They didn't replace Dez and they didn't even use that money on anyone significant.

Replace what? Cry baby rants on the sidelines? Bad route running? Demanding the ball? Lost of dropped balls? Or do you miss all those stupid twitter messages? Actually we still get those.

Say what you want about him but he at least was good enough to have the best corner on the opposing team guarding him.

I'd be all over a conditional 4th for Amari Cooper. I'd be on the phones about that tonight.
A conditional 4th? At this point I’d give up a 2nd for Cooper. He’s better than any 2nd rounder we’d get in the next draft.

And shut him down.
Just like what happens now....except no one here to make the best corner work. All he has to do is just sit there. Not sure why you even going down this route. Dez isn't here, this teams receiving core is one of the worst in the league......neither side of the coin are in any position to brag. Dez is out of a job and the Cowboys receivers aren't very good.
