Josh McDaniels is the favorite new HC

That seems so unlikely to me. Not that we get a new coach if this team doesn't make the playoffs or better, but that it'd be McDaniels. I guess people will bet on almost anything.

I assume it's just a combination of (a) Dallas is one of the most likely teams to replace their head coach by this offseason, and (2) McDaniels is one of the most likely guys to get a head coaching job this offseason, and isn't really about matching a guy to a team.

He would certainly be an upgrade but that doesn’t change the bigger problem in the owners box.

All I can do at this point is hope that someone is brought in who can "convince Jerry to go against his instincts".

Besides picking Tebow didn't he also pull out the rug from the Colts at the last second this off-season? Not only leaving the Colts in the lurch but assistant coaches that had already quit their jobs and were heading to Indy? I'm no JG fan but no thanks.

I really hope not.......stay away from ex-PAtriots players and coaches.

As a matter of fact.....I don't see how he doesn't get that Patriots job at some point.

I hope whoever Dallas gets as a head coach they let him pick who he wants for assistants! This needs to be almost a clean sweep of coaches!
I agree. But if that happens, it will be the first time since the Big Tuna left that Jerry doesn’t hire all the assistant coaches.

The guy who was caught cheating and then backed out of a deal with the Colts last minute?

Yeah, no.

McDaniels did such a great job his first time around right, but with Jerry pulling the strings, doesn't matter.

I wonder how other owners view him after that stunt with the Colts.
My bet he stays in New England, but it'll be after Brady and BillB call it quits. Team struggles with the loss of those two icons, blame falls on McD-rightfully or not, and he is out of the league in a couple years after taking the HC gig.

McDaniels wouldn't do much for me, except an upgrade on offensive creativity.

I want Sean Payton (proven NFL head coach, offensive-minded) but he is signed through 2020...

..... so we would have to trade draft picks to get him.

I'd also take a proven college coach like Nick Saban (expensive and will insist on total control), Urban Meyer (expensive but possibly available due to assistant coach scandal), Jim Harbaugh (expensive, may be hard to pry away from his alma mater), or David Shaw (loves Stanford, not really known for offensive creativity).

Other guys I'd be willing to take a shot at are:

Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma - age 35. Known for offensive creativity during his time as an assistant coach/offensive coordinator at Texas Tech, East Carolina, and Oklahoma.

Matt Campbell , Iowa State, age 38. My "sleeper" pick. Was an offensive line coach and offensive coordinator before becoming a head coach. Spent time at Bowling Green, Toledo, and Iowa State, not exactly elite programs but he's done more with less.

Matt LeFleur
, Tennessee Titans Offensive Coordinator, age 38. Trying to copy the Sean McVay formula. He was McVay's OC for the Rams in 2017, and the QB coach with the Falcons (under OC Kyle Shanahan). Has also coached at Notre Dame, Washington Commanders(again, under Kyle Shanahan), Houston Texans, and some smaller colleges. I think him working with Marcus Mariota this year would be valuable in regards to helping Dak.

Mike LaFleur, 49ers WR Coach and Passing game Coordinator. Matt's younger brother. Working under Kyle Shanhan now, following him over from Atlanta. Head Coach may be a big jump but I think he's a name on the rise.

I really, really like Kris Richard but I'd need to know who he planned to bring in at OC if he was named HC.

This.

It's just another way for sports books in Vegas to make money.
