Run Dak, Run!

There have been other, successful, NFL quarterbacks that weren't good at reading defenses, etc. that got better.

Whether or not Dak can get better will never be known unless he gets different (better) coaching. Though I'm sure there are numerous NFL quarterback experts on this site that will say he can't ;)

It's glaring.

Remember that part in the game where Mariota's WR hadn't even turned in his route, and the ball was already on its way?

When was the last time we saw that? I don't know that I've seen Dak do that once.

What I want to know is where is the coaching? Why has no one told Dak that his stupid spin move out of the pocket ALWAYS results in a sack? Why has no one told him that you need to set your feet to throw accurately? Why has no one told him to throw the ball away when no one's open?

Sure, this is what happens when you hire a garbage QB coach. But Linehan and Garrett are both former QBs. If their QB coach isn't getting it done, why aren't they doing anything?

It looks like Dak waits for WRs to break open. There was a 2nd down play where the Titans blitzed an LB up the middle, left. Dak swings it out to Zeke to his right for no gain I believe. When they did a replay from the pocket you can see a WR about to break wide open in the middle on a slant. He made his cut just as Dak threw it to Zeke. I don't mind if a QB misses those from time to time, but I rarely see Dak make those throws.

Linehan did not call a game plan to step on the Titans neck after the turn overs. As I keep saying why have a FB and Rico Gathers on the roster and you are not going to use either. What are the Jonesboys? Hoarders? Lets hoard the players so when they go to another team they become stars (Martellus Bennett).

Booger McFarland kept bringing up that this offense has no fear factor at TE. They can not run the ball consistently without a lead FB. What was the big play that got the Titans in scoring range to take the lead. They lined up in I formation ran to the left side and the FB kicked out the OLB. Sounds familiar? The Cowboys use to do that but the Jonesboys have no clue.

When all you run is button hooks with the WRs and TEs, no QB drop back or scrambler QB is going to look good in this offense. Witten kept telling you this is not the 2014 offense. Its not the 2016 offense. We have no TE that can run a crossing route and slant that gets open, but the one that is hoarded on the bench. We get a WR that can get open and we take him off the field after every big catch signaling the defense the Jonesboys are now going to run the ball with Zeke and no FB.

Go watch the Patriots use the RB, FB, TE, and WR in the passing game. They pass inside to outside and not with button hooks. This is not rocket science. People forget that the Landry years and the Johnson years had RBs and FBs catching the ball with designed pass routes (both 1977 and 1992 the RB was the 3rd leading receiver on the team). They had 1 very good TE. Then the WR would beat you deep and break slants and 20 yard digs/post routes. The Jonesboys longest pass play before the last drive vs. the Titans was the broken coverage play to Hurns for a TD.

This offense does not play to no ones strength. The Jonesboys offense is "like a golf ball in high grass...LOST!" (Parcells quote to Romo).
McFarland also brought up what all of us have known. Connor Williams is not a guard and Collins is not a RT. He actually mentioned this.

I beg to differ!!! LOL

It doesn't help that your coach sucked, meaning Dak is being coached by a guy who couldn't earn a starting position, what since does that make? How is he supposed to improve being coached by a group of Losers basically, how many games did JG start, how many did the QB coach start!??????

There is your answer

Hof rarely come back to coach. Most coaches aren't NFL level players. So your point is a bit ridiculous. There are many legit reasons to hate this coaching staff, but not being a starting QB himself isn't 1.

We haven't seen an RPO since Jax game. Even Booger freaking McFarland was telling everybody how predictable our offense was, "there's another first down run". He said that Ten wasn't threatened by the pass game at all. We saw one play action last night. I do not understand why Linehan keeps calling slow developing routes, 5-7 step drops, etc when our QB has no internal clock/pocket awareness, our oline can't block for longer then 3 seconds and our WR's can't get open. Linehan should have been escorted out of the building last night, never to return. And Dak shouldn't be far behind him. But I think JJ will keep Garrett and bring in a new, creative play caller to give Dak a final shot next season.

It comes from Stephen Jones. He didn't want Dak taking more hits running the ball.
Made the comments after the Giants game, and the success with the read-option.
Week 3 we barely/never used it.

It really is maddening how inept our coaching staff seems to be. What seems obvious to the majority of football viewers seems to escape the coaches mental capacity. Our most explosive players aren't given the chance to be explosive.

When Tavon Austin was healthy, how many opportunities were he actually given in a game? How many deep passes have we seen go to our, "deep threat WR," Thompson? Why is the FB on the team when he is never used? Why is Rico on the team when he is never used? Why is Blake Jarwin even on the team? Why is the flat and the screen the only pass routes that we see Zeke run? Why is Dak not running when the stats say that our win percentages are very high when he runs and very low when he does not? Why do nearly all of our passing plays take more than 4 seconds to develop, resulting in Dak holding on to the ball entirely too long? Do our coaches even know what a slant route is?

At this point, I am done with Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan. We are not going anywhere with these guys controlling the offense. Though my faith is Dak is quickly waining, I feel that he can still win games for us if he has a coaching staff that utilizes him to his strengths as opposed to forcing him to rely on his weaknesses.

Well, that is another problem. Why the hell is Stephen Jones involved in such decisions? I get he wants to preserve Dak but he's also taking away what the guy does best.

The guy runs for 80 yards against j-ville and tears them up.........and then nothing.... Dak is not a pocket passer and whoever is trying to make him one is a moron and needs to go. I'm not saying Dak is my ideal franchise QB but as long as he is in the game, he needs to do what he does best.............which is not taking 5 and 7 step drops. He needs to roll out away from pressure and take off when he has green in front of him. No reason we should lose games like last night.
Agree. Get the ball out of his hands and tucked under his arm - he needs to run more, along with Zeke's threat that will win a lot of games.

Its about moving the chains and staying out of 3rd and long. He doesn't need to run for 30 yards to be effective. He is a dink and dump QB with some wheels.

that's not a formula for winning football. a QB may run 80 yards once and we win, but consistently running....teams will stop that...and Titans did last night. they had a spy on Dak and several time he got outside and tried to run, but there was someone there to push him out of bounce....a QB needs to pass and pass effectively from the pocket...running is secondary....and if youa re saying Dak can not pass from the pocket, then Dak is not a QB we need.

I agree but until we have a proper QB we need to win games by such gimmicks and cheat plays.

then we are just fooling ourselves....... its not about regular season...its about superbowl and post season and even if he runs and we win a few games and sneak into playoffs, then we lose in the first round. Kapernick could run and he did once in a while, but he could also pass from the pocket........Dak can run, but can't pass.....his footwork is downright awful. fundamentals lag
