Was the Eagles win good or bad in the long term?

I will always enjoy a win over the Eagles.

It's about the small things.

I don't think we can know the answer yet. It's always nice to experience a win, but let's see how the rest of the season plays out before saying whether it was a good thing or a bad thing.

True but since none of can see into the future winning is good, especially in a divisional race that is still wide open. Maybe it is just me but I have yet to look back and say I wish we would have lost these games.

I think I've finally hit on what drives me nuts....beside Jerry and Garrett.....

We live in a day and age of information overload. Back in the 70s and 80s your info came from Phyllis George and Jimmie the Greek on Sunday before a game. Besides that you just lived and died with your team. If I didn't have to hear Jason and Jerry talk or say the dumbest things after every win or loss I might be less inclined to get so angsty(just typing this post makes me cringe at him)....but Jerry can't help himself and we haven't done much in two decades. The more I hear him the more I dislike him more than JG because his only goal, besides making money, is to be right.

So I think it was a bad win...if there can be one..from that standpoint...Jerry says more inane stuff and hangs his hat on it. We are stuck in Groundhog seasons. But the fan in me always loves to see Philly lose.

It depends on if one win saved Garrett.......if so then it was bad.

-----Any victory is a good victory.

Oh really.....how did beating Philly help us last year in Game 16 except drop us in the draft?

Yes, any victory. Winning is what this game is about, not draft position.

Maybe we don't have Vander Esch if we lost, but Tremaine Edmunds or Derwin James instead. Does that make us better?

Maybe we draft Goedert instead of Williams in the second.

This losing mind-set that some have is not something I understand. The problems that we have can be fixed without losing. That's not the only way, and it's certainly not my preferred way.

No, it's not just you.

Still plenty of time left to win a bunch of games and make the playoffs or lose a bunch of games and get a great draft pick.

Beating the Eagles before deciding which path to take should never be considered a bad thing.

Win over the Eagles in there house is the best of the best . They have been crying about it on talk radio steady for 2 days now HEAVENLY!!!

If Jerry wants to keep Garrett he is going to and that's just that . Jerry knows down deep Garrett had nothing to do with that win . We got lucky when Williams went out and the X man came in and made our Oline play as advertised so we could power run and cover our sins at HC

Garrett is on thin ice, the pressure is really on now. We got our first rd pick this year instead of next years draft and he’s seasoned. We got a top 10 defense, produce or you’re fired.

As a life long Cowboys fan, there's no team I despise more than the Eagles. I can't stand their players almost as much as their fans (read as: they're both despicable). Needless to say, beating them at their house and hearing their fans cry boos was just about as good as it gets during the regular season.

Immediately after the game ended, I sat there thinking to myself: was this win actually good (or bad) for the Cowboys? Let's face it, we still have a lot of challenges to face even to get into the playoffs, let alone make a run to the SB. Either the Rams or the Saints are going to be the 2018 NFC SB representative unless something shocking happens. Our 2018 ceiling has a pretty hard cap this season (and next assuming the Rams continue to dominate).

But, Garrett's job security definitely did not get worse (Linehan too) and probably improved. IMO, that is NOT a good thing. This guy is like a cockroach - can survive through the toughest conditions by going 8-8 year after year. How can JJ's inkling to fire Garrett get any stronger after kicking some Eagle butt on the road? Seems unlikely.

What has to happen from here on out to ensure that Garrett AND Linehan are gone before the 2019 season?

If we go on to win the SB then it was good

If we flame out or barely make the playoffs and are one and done, it was bad

I don't care if beating the Eagles, especially in Philly, keeps us from the #1 overall pick, next best Coach/QB, curses us for 1,000 years (Jerry will still be alive then), etc.......I'M EMPTYING BOTH BARRELS TO BURY THE EAGLES!

Hopefully, when we play them again in week 14, our win over them will mathematically end their chance at winning the division. The tears from that fanbase, not to mention Kelce, Lane Johnson, etc. are just too sweet. He who controls the tears, controls the Universe.

We discuss this a lot on the board. Most want Linehan and garret gone but nobody wants to root against the team.

Bad. This franchise will not win anything until there's serious change. That win doesn't get you any closer to that change.

A win against a Division rival when you’re in the playoff hunt is NEVER a bad thing. There is zero guarantee a loss would bring about the change you want, and even if it did, there’s no assurance the change will be an improvement. You play to win the game.

I agree. I fully expect Jerry to support his HC but in the end I do think this team has to play well and challenge in post season. HC contract means nothing and would not prevent Jerry from pulling the trigger. I think Jerry will give Garrett every opportunity and has but I don't see Jerry staying with him unless this team can make a big turn around

Really good victory for Cowboys considering the circumstances for both teams. But this is as good as Dak Prescott will ever look so enjoy it. And this will be Cowboys' best victory this season as well. Enjoy that too.

Let them dream Risen...they have reached a point where not even nightmares matter anymore as a good chunk of the fan base will buy anything Jerry and family will sell them.....

I know a lot of people want to wait a few games or even until the end of the season before answering that question. However, I wasn't getting at a "hindsight 20/20" thought.

With that said, if we make the playoffs AND win at least one game, I think Garrett deserves 1 more year (begrudgingly). It's a tall order, but that should be the bar for him this season. I know this debate has been beaten to death on CZ for years, but it is what it is.

On a side note, I still cannot believe we came into the season so unprepared with our patchwork WR/TE corps and unknown PK. The fact that JJ had to sacrifice our 2019 #1 to bandaid the offense is ridiculous. JG has to shoulder some of that blame too.
