******************** The Overtime Zone Feedback Thread ********************

So the question arises, that if the main fan page gets assaulted on game day after, and good threads disappear, how will it be different here?

Rethinking that unlocking now aren't you, Reality?

No, not at all. This thread was not supposed to be locked.

As I explained in the announcement thread, there are still a lot of details to work out. If we had an exact detailed plan of which type of threads belong in OZ versus FZ, we would have posted it. For now, it's a start and there are likely to be a few bumps along the way.

The bottom line though is that the current system is no longer viable with the number of users and posts being made on the site, so this is a good start hopefully toward resolving or at least alleviating that problem.

Interesting. I do have some faith it'll work out compared to other, forum sites.

The draft forum works well, and so does the OT/Member/sports zones to a degree.

Roster zone, it's like 3 posters in there lol.

One of the ideas I am considering is merging the Roster Zone with OZ since there are some good discussions there as well.

Those threads needed to not be in the Fan Zone and really didn't fit the "Drama Zone" concept so that's why they had their own forum.

For now though, we're going to leave it as it until we get a better grasp on the new OZ and FZ changes.

"The Drama Zone provided a way for us to let the users vent and share their frustrations and opinions among other like minded users without bothering and harassing the majority of the users who simply wanted to discuss Cowboys-related news and information."

Sorry, but the majority of posters are not content with 20+ years of losing. I know its your forum and you can do whatever you want, but that statement is just ridiculous and out of touch. I think the majority of people are passionate fans who are sick of losing and want to express that. Trying to bury that on your site is just disingenuous.

If we wanted to bury something, it would be deleted and the users permanently banned.

The Drama Zone provided a way for us to allow it to remain on the site in a featured forum (it was the 3rd forum on the site) and still allow the main forum (Fan Zone) to be used for what most users care about which is reading and discussing the latest news and information.

We did not move all negative posts to the Drama Zone, but if they were dead-horse topics without any new information that were simply going to be back-and-forth unwinnable arguments between homers and haters of particular players, coaches, front office personnel, etc., then we moved them to the Drama Zone. That way, they could continue being discussed by those interested in them while at the same time reserving the Fan Zone for threads that most users wanted to read.

Just because fans are not happy does not mean they want to have to read through yet-another-drama-laden post complaining about something already complained about dozens of times by other users in various threads.

Why do people consider something burried when it’s in another forum? So much passion about what ‘folder’ a thread is put into.

Having a board with high-content threads and one with highly-emotional threads makes perfect sense. Especially if a lot of the passionate fans really want to express their displeasure so much that it impacts the regular discussions going on.

Plus, there’s the New Posts link in the menu that everybody should just be sorting posts with, anyway. Then they all come out of their directories and its academic.

I rarely go to different boards. I just use the New Posts link. Half the time I don't know what board I'm on. lol

I just have one question, how many "Overtime" Zones are there?

Me, too. That’s why I always find it weird people
Get so riled up about forums.

I didn’t even know that “new post” thing existed. I just assume 90% of people go to fanzone and that’s it. That’s why it would be frustrating when threads/posts get moved to another board because they are view as “negative”

FWIW, they generally get moved because they’re duplicative and not because they are negative. We ration the slots on the main board to keep a diversity of topics there.

It’s a natural correlation that the negative emotional posts tend not to be original.

Some people get mad because they want their threads/posts on the "Front Page" and not buried in the "Lifestyle" or "Travel" section, because they want people to see just how witty or original their take is and everybody should be able to find it immediately and marvel at such a thought provoking and insightful post. "I found a new way to imply that "Garrett Sucks" and the world should know!" :D

For the announcement on this forum, please read ..

This thread is for discussing the new Overtime Zone forum.

I liked it when there was a Zone specific to Jerry and the coaches.

I know that's probably part of the Rant Zone which is now the Overtime Zone; however, it feels like the Jerry/Garrett stuff got moved more then than now.

Many people still try to derail threads with Jerry/Garrett bashing.

Just my 2 cents.

Whatever you're doing works better than any other Cowboys message board past or present.

I've been here over 10 years and my threads are still getting Moderated before posting and sometimes just deleted

We don't need any more new rules and forums

I like the concept of the Roster Zone. The thing I like too many people post things that should be in the Roster Zone in the Fan Zone. I think the Draft Zone is the only Cowboys related Zone that keeps 80% of forum users from defaulting to the Fan Zone
