We really gave up a 1ST ROUND PICK for a 24 year old, drop-happy, unproductive WR? I really, really HATED this trade... but man, has he proven me wrong. He’s seemingly hauled in every catchable pass that’s been thrown his way, and he really is one of the best route runners to ever wear a Cowboys uniform. Not only that, but the chemistry with Dak has been there since day one, something that can’t be understated, and there’s no question the coverage he’s drawn has made life easier on Zeke and the other receivers as well. He’s basically been a 1st down machine since he’s arrived here, and his impact on the offense will be one of the main reasons we’ll make the playoffs. Oh, and 19 looks a lot better than 89.

DeMarcus Lawrence

I was in the “franchise tag him, then let him walk” camp. I thought he’d prove to be a one-year-wonder, and that he’d become our next Brandon Carr level of bad contract if we were to pay him. There’s no way you can’t pay him now. He’s the unquestioned vocal leader of our defense and he straight up walks-the-walk. Not only is he an all-pro caliber player at his position, but the whole defense has basically adopted his dawg-mentality. Like the name or not, this Hot Boyz thing is for real. You can see how hard his guys play for him, and he’s earned every single penny he’s about to get.

Leighton Vander Esch

It’s no secret Derwin James was my favorite player in the draft. I was beyond disappointed when we didn’t trade up to get him, and even more so when we settled for LVE. To me, he was a 1st round talent with 3rd round tape, so I thought it was a reach to take him in the 1st... Now, you can make the argument he’s not only the best player from the draft, but one of the best linebackers in football. Period. Last year, our defense fell completely apart. We couldn’t even function without Sean Lee, which made some sense because he’s also one of the best LBs in football when healthy. This year, though, that same guy may not even get his job back, he’ll have to steal snaps from Damien Wilson to see the field. That’s how great “The Wolf Hunter” has been. It’s only LVE’s rookie year and Jaylon’s first year at 100% and they’re already being recognized as the best LB duo in the entire NFL. It’s scary to think how great they might become.

I’d like to say I’m sorry to all these guys! And I never doubted Jaylon Smith or Byron Jones, but there’s definitely a few of you that owe some apologies

Apology (conditionally) accepted

However, please explain in a little more detail how you said what and why you said those nasty things

In case you have difficulty with expressing your thoughts in a long post please contact @jday for detailed instructions

Depends. Apologies are owed only if the take wasn't backed by facts and reasoning.

Sometimes, the wrong move is made and you get lucky and it turns out OK. Doesn't make it the right move, makes it a lucky move. Depending on luck is what drove us into mediocrity in the first place.

Cooper:
Before the trade there were rumors/suggestions about the Cowboys trading for him. Based on the general fan/media consensus about him it didn't seem worth it; however, after the trade I went back and studied his game footage. After reviewing the game footage I was shocked that the Raiders traded him away. It was easy to see that he was an excellent route runner and a legit #1 WR.

DLaw:
Franchising him was the correct decision. He has had 2 back surgeries already. The long term outlook for most players with even 1 back surgery is not good.

His ability when healthy should not have been in doubt. People forget that he was really good that year that Greg Hardy played RDE and obviously DLAW was very good in 2017.

Vander Esch:
I loved the pick.

If I knew that a Safety was going to play Strong Safety in the NFL, I would not use a top 20 pick on him. The big money Safeties are usually Free Safeties in the modern pass-happy NFL.

I projected James as a Strong Safety in the NFL and in the games I've seen of him in the NFL that is where he played.

LVE definitely proved me wrong, I did think he was going to be good, it's just that I wanted Ridley.

I like the Cooper trade I just thought a first was a lot considering we were like 3-5. Lawrence, he just had to prove last year was not a stroke of luck plus stay healthy and he's proven he's worth whatever his next contract is.

So LVE has proved me wrong

That's about it, everyone on the team is playing the way I expected them to play including B. Jones. I knew he was good, I knew he would make a good corner but Dang that boy probably makes 1st team all pro.

Agree with everything and I also have to say that I didn't expect Looney to do as well as he has like others have mentioned. He is not Frederick but no one is. He would start on a lot of other teams the way he has been playing IMO.

I liked the Dlaw pick
The player cooper and the price are two different things
I thought the price was too high and with eagles offer a second I’d rather have gave a second and another pick. But the player is worth the pick with what he’s brought but having cooper and a first would have been better
I have questions about every draft pick
I thought LVE was a good prospect but he’s really an elite prospect

I don’t think anyone felt looney could be this good

Wrong. Depending on Jed picking mediocrity made Dallas mediocre in the first place.

He's ruined this franchise.

Jaylon smith....

number 1 for me in a runaway I thought it was a terrible draft pick day 1 and thought he would never even get back to even the shadow of his former self

My apologies Jaylon
