Gallup's numbers should rival Cooper's

Third round draft pick, rookie wide receiver Michael Gallup, is having a tremendous initial season, though you wouldn't know it looking at his numbers. While 27 receptions for 404 yards & 1 TD in 13 games is acceptable for a rookie, this is no ordinary rookie. Gallup has consistently beaten his man for deep balls, only to be overthrown by Dak Prescott. I have little doubt the kid would have caught almost every ball had it not been thrown ten yards past him. He would be looking at close to 40-750-6 if his QB threw to him with the same touch & accuracy he's had with Cooper. If that connection ever gets right, this offense will be very hard to beat, indeed.

Yep.

He'd be in the discussion for OROY if Dak could get him the ball.

lol his numbers would not rival cooper's. cooper is one of the better receivers in the league. right now he's a far better route runner and just generally more savvy. dak has missed gallup plenty (and gallup stopped on the one sunday). but comparing gallup to cooper right now is silly. it's just wayyy more route options with cooper right now than with gallup. they aren't close in quality. it's not a mystery why cooper has better numbers in 6 games than gallup does all season. cooper is a better WR who gets open ridiculously consistently. gallup is just not that guy (yet?).

I'm just glad Gallup can separate and win one on one battles, and........he catches with his hands and he has some catch radius.

The arrow is definitely pointing up.

I know I'm kinda tutting my own horn here so I will apologize to all of you for that right away but, I've been watching this kid for awhile now. I saw a lot of his games in College, saw him play in person and he just jumped off the page at you. Why he was ranked so low, I never understood but I am certainly glad that he was. To me, he was top two or three WRs in the class. I liked him better then anybody else coming out. He just does it all and he's the right type of player, you know?

His numbers would absolutely rival Coopers.

He may not be better then Cooper but that's not the point. His production would be higher if the QB could hit him when he is open. It's been a problem all year.

I made this post back in early November.

Yeah, I don't think it would be exaggerating to say he would have 5-6 more 40-60 yard TD's

This is true but, I think it's fair to say that most of them probably were.

Yep.

There seems to be this new angle where people claim Gallup let up on many of the long throws but I've gone back and watched some of the more recent ones and I just don't see it. Dak simply air mailed him.

And while not a long throw, the worst of the bunch was probably the interception that gave Philly their first TD. Was such a horrendous throw. Gallup was wide open and probably had some YAC potential there but Prescott air mailed him terribly.

It's actually a joke. He studdered on a route 1 time and now people think that's been the problem all year and it couldn't be our QB. Buh buh buh he hits Cooper. Like that means anything.

gallup's production would be higher. yes. that doesn't mean his numbers would equal cooper's. yes, if dak hit gallup every single time he was open deep, maybe it would be fairly close. and if dak hit cooper every single time HE was open, it would quickly not be close again. cooper being a much better WR matters quite a bit. cooper doesn't just get open on deep passes (statistically much harder to complete). that's gallup's main bag right now. cooper can get open deep, middle, shallow, in the middle, on the outside - anywhere. being a much better WR will generally give that WR better numbers.

Gallup's numbers should be better, but the QB so many of you like to rip actually threw the balls that resulted in Cooper's numbers.

Yeahbut can never win.
Oh, so since he's thrown more accurate balls to Cooper, that means it's not his fault that he doesn't throw accurately to Gallup?

Very deep WR draft class.

Could easily name 10-15 rookies having good years, for a rookie

Looking forward to seeing Gallup’s progress
