How is this Cowboys roster Super Bowl caliber?

............Let me present to you, the 2011 Super Bowl champion New York Giants:

  • 25th-ranked scoring offense
  • 25th-ranked scoring defense (worst of any Super Bowl champion)
  • 29th-ranked passing defense
  • 26th-ranked defense in drive average allowed
  • 32nd-ranked rushing offense (worst in NFL)
  • Allowed 49 points in a blowout loss to Saints
  • Worst win-loss record among NFC playoff teams that year (only finished 9-7)
  • Negative point differential (scored 394 points, allowed 400; worst of any Super Bowl team ever)

That made me sick to my stomach when they won it

All they have is Zeke and Amari as offensive weapons and a top 10 defense. Cowboys have 1 of the worst O-lines, only 1 receiving threat, and a great non battle tested defense.

Its not. This team is actually worse then last years team. The big difference being that Zeke didnt get suspended.

Philly was great last year where this year we swept them. last year we came off a 13-3 season so it was disappointing to miss the playoffs. Team crumbled in the 2nd half. THIS year the expectations were much lower after Frederick went down. The team surged in the 2nd half so there a little more satisfaction. Schedule was easier and like I said, the East was a cake walk.

Single game elimination means anything can happen.

Dak is inconsistent, but is he capable of stringing together 4 good games? If Eli and Flacco can do it, I think Dak can too.

Dak is inconsistent because the line is so bad. Unfortunately the line isnt getting any healthier so there is no chance of stringing 4 games together.

All you are doing is taking one of the most unlikely situations and saying that it can happen to us. Doesnt change the odds, however.

And those stats you are putting up there about the D were regular season stats. The D started playing lights out late in the season and throughout the playoffs.

This is the crux of the matter and you are on point . We go as the Oline goes . The health of the Oline has dictated our success all year . Against the Colts with Silo- Filo out and Martin out along with Tyron not at full strength we could do nothing .

Some fans don't understand that on this team a great Oline is necessary to cover our weaknesses at QB and coaching . QB and coaching do not have the talent at this point to elevate the team over inconsistent Oline play .

We have used the majority of our resources on the Oline and it needs to be what we hang our hat on . In comparison we have done nothing to elevate our offensive coaching except subtract an Oline coach after he screwed up the scheme and didn't have the best talent on the field and we pay the QB position nothing .

If the Oline is at what we would Call FULL STRENGTH for this season we are about middle of the pack . Fred is out Martin is battling ACL ,Tyron is Banged up and Conner Williams is not getting much stronger before the playoffs so we have a punchers chance at best but I am OK with that we have made my expectations by just getting to the post season .
Some may say this is a cop out but until we get a coaching staff on offense that can make the best use of the talent we have and score TDs in the Redzone it is hard to expect going deep into the playoffs when everyone is good and well coached .

That said ON ANY GIVEN SUNDAY anything can happen and I will root like hell hoping we beat the odds

We’ve won 5 out of the last 7 and we beat the Saints who were hot and considered the best team in football.

Our offense won’t win us anything. We’re a defensive football team and that is how we will have to win.

All great points. I would argue that MOST offenses go as the Oline goes. But THIS team more then most because of the reasons you pointed out:

-Bad coaching
-Young QB with pocket issues
-lack of receiving weapons
-bad scheme

From 2016 until now has been a text book example of Oline play and how it affects an offense. In 3 years we went from the best Oline in football, to the bottom of the league at certain times during the year.

Holding Drew Brees and the Saints to 10pts isn’t “battle tested”...?

It’s not and anyone that tells you it is is worthy of the ignore function. This team does have many of the pieces needed but unfortunately lacks the most important ones. That being an OC and a QB capable of taking over a tough game and leading the team to a win. I don’t like Garrett but I actually think you could win a super bowl with him as the HC if you had an OC running an offense that was at least 75% non Garrett influenced and a DC getting the most out of his talent like Richard. Maybe we will see those moves made this offseason and the team can take the next step.

I'm happy we made the playoffs. That said, I believe we are too offensively challenged to realistically walk into LA and/or NO and keep pace. The defense has been the strength of this team, yet the past 3 games not as strong as the previous 4. IMO, the biggest difference between the Dallas D and the comparison of the 2011 Gnats is the QB pressure/sacks. It's not even really close. IF they're to rattle the playoff teams in there home, or even Seattle for that matter in Dallas they HAVE to harass the QB all day. Haven't really seen that since the NO game, and sporadically before and less after

31st in pass blocking, 31st in sacks and pressure, 2nd most penalized Oline in the NFL.

I have had this conversation 400 times this year so give me whatever response you want. I have heard everyone from the Petty Dak Trolls.

Top 5 defense
Leagues leading rusher
WR1
2 Pro Bowlers on OL

That’s propelled us to a division title with a 21st ranked QB.
