My thoughts. Who is Dak?

I said this in another thread last week. Dak is a combination of all the major QB's of Cowboys past.

He has Troy Aikman's leadership. Roger Staubach's mobility. Don Meredith's toughness. Danny White's legion of critics. Tony Romo's bad play-good play tendencies.

But as others have said, Dak is Dak. He's so unlike any QB we've ever had, comparisons are probably too tough to make accurately.
He does not have Staubachs mobility, no where near.

To those who have asked in the past what Dak's supporters mean when we say he has "it", please do the following.

Re-watch the last 2:29 of today's game, with the Cowboys down 35-28 on the road with no timeouts.

That's "it". What Dak did today. Lesson over.

Here is my thought on Dak. I was a huge fan but soured on him during the 3-5 section of the season. I still like him personally and think he has many qualities of a franchise QB but right now his flaws to me make him very unlikely to ever lead the team to playoff success. That is why I soured on him and I will stay there until he proves me wrong. I hope he does all the way but I have to see it first now to be back on his side. He does not have to be perfect because he has the intangibles to overcome some flaws. His flaws are just so bad at times that he has to reduce them or the team will go nowhere. He doesn’t have to be Brady or Brees but he does have to learn to get rid of the ball quicker to avoid sacks and throw the ball sooner on timing routes instead of waiting for the wr to be open thus allowing for the DB to recover and make the play. Also, of course, he has to hit some of those deep throws where the wr is wide open for a TD. Even small improvements in those areas and Dallas would be blowing teams out instead of having to win at the end.

True, but I was trying to think of the last Cowboys QB teams had to honor as a runner. Staubach was my pick since I chose not to insult Dak with Quincy Carter.

40 years of Cowboy loving baby ...was here before Dak will be here after Dak.....if we win in the playoffs Dak Prescott will not be the factor...this is the only fact that will stay true as it did during the regular season....

That's more years than I've been alive. So I will give that to you. What is your real disdain with Dak? Dak played well today. We don't know if he will be a factor or not since the game hasn't happen yet. I hope your prediction is wrong. He's not the weakest link but he is an important one for the success of this team moving forward especially on the offense. They have been frustrating as heck this year.

As long as he drives us to the SB, I’m ok with bus driver
He clearly has the "it" factor in terms of how people are responding to him. Today was the first time I have honestly saw it.

I can't understand it, but his teammates just hover about him like satellites.

I just don't think that is enough to win a title.

Before anything that involves stats or accuracy, the thing that jumps out at me is he's a Leader and a Winner. He was drafted in the 4th round, so clearly he needed work. But after 3 yrs, he has had more success and better stats then any QB from his draft.

So while fans can cry and gripe about him not being accurate, him not having pocket awareness. In big games he shows up and wins. In big situations he wins. At the end of games, he wins. What more do fans need? Do we need 400yrds and 4Tds and a loss, or a balanced attack that just wins games? Fantasy football and madden have warped fans brains into thinking just because they do things in a video game that its easy to play in the NFL.

Fans will compare Dak to the guy he took over for, and the favorite quote is "Romo would win a superbowl with this team". NO he wouldnt, he couldnt win a playoff game with one of the best teams in Cowboys history in 2007. They dominated on offense and defense. Dak shows better poise then Romo ever did with the game on the line. That TD pass to Beasley was amazing. And an even better catch. Dak put that ball the only place that would've been completed. It was picture perfect, and what made the catch harder wasnt the placement but Beasley lack of height. So he had to reach. A Taller WR catches it easy. But great catch by Beasley.

I know people are going to say Dak missed deep throws today that would've been TDs. SO WHAT!! he took the team to TDs on those drives anyways. He missed a guy but overcame that and drove the team down and scored TDs on perfect reads to Jarwin and the game winner to Beasley.

He balled out today without Tyron and Martin and Elliot. The game was in Daks hands and he nailed it. The defense was abused but Dak put the team on his back and won the game. The game winner, he alludes a sack and throws it while taking the hit with a perfect placement, when the team needed it. Last down, he either makes that throw or they lose. And the outcome was the same as its been his whole professional career. A win when the games on the line and they need a TD. Daks doing something the team hasnt had since Aikman. A QB who could win you the game late. And no Romo never gave them that.

Why should he be? The QB is the most important player on the field. Cowboys need a big game from him next weekend or they won't win.
The patriots need a big game from Brady or they dont win, SEA needs a big win from Wilson aswell. dont know if u didnt understand what i had typed but basically i meant every team needs their QB to play big in the playoffs or they will be going home.

Think that game winner to beasley was a deep throw. Thats just me tho.

He's just got "IT"

To me i think the biggest thing thats happening is the Te posistion is starting to contribute. And while Jarwin played great today, i think it was more of how bad NYs Lbers and S' are. But TE is a huge peice in this offense. Dak if he trusts Jarwin makes things alot easier for him.

The IT factor is indisputable...he just wins in the regular season (like Romo)....Its time to take the "IT factor" to the next level and lead this team deep into the playoffs.... If its one and done in the playoffs... Im looking to replace both Garrett and Dak.. To much talent on this team to waste it.... Like DAK but its time to show he can take the next step and play championship level football.

Good luck with trying to have an intellectual conversation with that yahoo.
He makes assumptions and runs like a naked alzheimer patient on meth.

In itself probably not
But to me this offense is all about 3rd downs
If he can just convert those we can beat anyone
It allows Zeke to keep running, keeps opponent watching and keeps our D fresh and hungry

Dak Prescott is not qualified to start as a QB for any NFL team including America's team.....he is a Grade D QB and I'll let Dak prove it to you come this coming weekend.....beating a Dead Giants team once again changed 0 concerning Dak inept talent levels....

Well, thanks for reaffirming the merely obvious then. What else really matters?
