A lot of teams spend the first half of the year breaking in new schemes, new players and then re-calibrating. Some teams get decimated by injuries. The Eagles and Ravens didn't get rolling until after changes at quarterback.

I would argue that a team's record in the second half of the season is perhaps a better way to measure that team as they enter the playoffs.

Now obviously strength of schedule can cloud things. But anyway. Here it is:

NFC
Bears, 7-1
Cowboys, 7-1
Saints, 6-2
*
Seahawks, 6-2
Eagles, 5-3
Rams, 5-3

AFC
Colts, 7-1
Ravens, 6-2
Texans, 6-2
Chargers, 6-2
Chiefs, 5-3
Patriots, 5-3

*Saints benched most starters in final game loss

This year saw a lot of teams that struggled early but got things turned around.

Early season difficulties:
Dallas, 3-5
Seahawks, 2-3
Bears, 3-3
Colts, 1-5
Chargers, 1-2
Ravens, 4-5
Eagles, 4-6
Texans, 0-3

8/12 of the playoff field looked whacked at one point.

we took the path less traveled just to be here. BRUTAL *** SCHEDULE. I would argue we are the most tried and true team in this tournament,at least this year. Winning the last 7 out of 8 games by any measure is a monumental feat.

Eagles were never at 3-6. They were at 4-5 and 4-6.

Ravens and Cowboys some would argue are THE 2 teams that are the most dangerous.

I could definitely see that.

But this year virtually nothing would surprise me. Every single team in the field seems capable of going on a run. I can't remember a year like this, where every team has a chance.
Would be a redemption tour in a way. Too bad GB didn't make the playoffs, would love to get redemption from them.

Seattle.... The Romo curse plus lost to them last season and this season.

Colts...... Vegas could make tons of money because we lost to them and was shut out earlier in the year.

Saints/Rams...... Garrett could get redemption and out coach 2 of the very good coaches in the league.

Bears...... Good head coach, good defense

Philly....... Redemption since they like to say we choke, nothing better than beating them in the conference finals for the 3 sweep.

Foles

Young Guns:
Prescott
Mahomes

Never-Quite-Got There Yet

Brees is an MVP candidate with a Super Bowl win and SB MVP in his belt.

Trubisky seems like the weakest QB of the bunch, Goff the one most likely to choke and Foles the one most likely to fall back to earth if he mis-places his rabbit’s foot.

I agree, there would be exceptions, but as a rule that is a good way to look at it.
