Lawrence may end up getting squeezed out of Dallas over this because I don't think they are letting Zeke walk.
I wasn't aware of the quote. just curious...……….where did it come from? as for its content, impossible to argue. he's the straw that stirs the drink in dallas.Timing is interesting. "I want to get paid and tonight I will show you why I deserve it". This is adding a little pressure on the one player that knows he must have a great game for the team to advance. The others can get by with good games but this game is all on Elliott tonight.
I imagine you are joking. Because you have to surely know garret has zero to do with the cap number. We will pay the man.
No problem.
We can adjust Garrett's $8 mil/yr. deal to help.
Absolutely! No he isn’t. In fact, I think he needs to be replaced as the primary backup to Elliott. He’s just not very good.
As a backup? Why not? I know he lacks burst and is a bit slow to the hole, but that's what you get as a backup. He's tough and plays very hard. Bill Bates type.No he isn’t. In fact, I think he needs to be replaced as the primary backup to Elliott. He’s just not very good.
It's sad that you have to overload the back of the contract w/ money that will never be paid just to make players feel good about themselves. So his agent has been whispering the sweet sounds of Gurley's extension last year. Basically the same situation.
I wouldn't really be opposed to it, since Gurley's contract is structured pretty well. Half his guaranteed was a signing bonus, other half are roster bonuses that lock in each league year. So, if you let him loose the only dead $$ is whatever left of the signing bonus that was prorated ahead. Not bad. They can even let him go 2 years into it and only eat $4mill dead, saving $18mill or something.
Actually looks pretty smart to me. I'd prolly make my eye rolls very apparent, and I'd make it sound like it's not how we normally do things, because contract extensions like that after 3 years into a potential 5 year rookie deal, is generally setting a pretty stupid precedent if you're writing the checks. But, I'd end up doing it anyway in this case, as long as it's a similar contract structure to Gurley's. I'd feel pretty good about it too.
Why are you faulting Zeke, did he come out and announce he wants a new contract today? Why would Zeke or this talking media head bring up this distracting rubbish before we've even won a playoff game yet and on the DAY OF no less. Just stop it!! Just lost heaps of respect for this guy.
If you plan to extend him that’s by far the best optionIt’s better to give him an extension now than two years.
Give him a 5 year deal, that’s 8 years under contract which is still pushing it for a running backs timeline. Give him one in 2 years, it’s 10 years which means he will likely never see the end of the contract.
Two rushing titles your first three years is not an indicator of future success as well? Boy i tell ya..some of you fellas arent too bright.
I imagine you are joking. Because you have to surely know garret has zero to do with the cap number.
The solution is simple give every player 30 mil a year. Problem solved.Pay the man.
Pay the man.
He’s outperformed his current contract, he’s deserving of a new one. Like I said you arent very bright. No your not too bright. I heard the same argument for MB3, Austin, Dez ect. You don’t pay running backs top money.. especially one your running into the ground. They fall off the cliff quickly.
Agreed, the more I think about it the more I feel like an early extension with a team-friendly contract structure is the way to go. Sure, pay him as one of the best in the game, but structure the contract in a front-loaded manner so that we can cut ties a couple years early (if deemed necessary) without too much dead money on the books. We have the cap space for it this year, even accounting for DLaw and others. So his agent has been whispering the sweet sounds of Gurley's extension last year. Basically the same situation.
