Tony Romo was a classic underachiever. He worked at his craft but honestly the vibe I got from Romo was that if he was cut the next day he'd be fine about it. Football was never his life, it was just a means for him to earn a living and got him to bang a few famous women.

As good as Romo was at times, he couldn't hold Aikman's jock.

Troy was most likely being kind. Tony Romo was an average QB who had a few decent games. Never really did anything, certainly didn't carry the team like some folks around her claim he did. If he did it was to an 8-8 finish which like his whole career was average.

On the field, Tony Romo was better than Troy Aikman using the information we have available. Troy was great as long as he had pre-free agency superteams that he could bus drive. As soon as they needed more from Troy (after 1996) he and the team both went into the can. Sure, Troy could have had gaudier numbers when he was younger... but he also might have hit 70 homers if he started playing baseball instead. Neither happened so I don’t really care about it.

Loved Troy and Jimmy said the same thing. But for the life of him he couldn't throw the deep ball. He also didn't real have burners on a regular basis.

Disagree. You can’t take numbers from two completely different eras and say “this is the answer” I’ll take Woodson’s take. Troy played in an era with press coverage where guys mauled WRs and was one of the most accurate passers in playoff history. Romo played in a playground era that was wide open. If I told you the QBs would switch eras would you trust Aikman in a wide open league or Romo...who already had interception issues..in a game where there was only so much space to throw? It’s easy

It is such a hard comparison....I don't think Troy would have been that good with the crappy O lines that Romo had the great part of his career. I don't know that Troy would have worked well with Dez....but maybe Troy would have snapped him into shape. I think there is no doubt that Troy had more athletic ability, especially as a young QB....but Tony could do much more with a less structured offense. Troy's resume says he is better, but I really think it isn't as far apart as a lot apparently do.
