The Seahawks players, specifically Baldwin said that our DL is stout but they knew they would have opportunities in the secondary, they did of course but our DL did show up and their opportunities were not as great as they hoped!

Agreed. We need a ball hawking safety to assist our corners who are 2 very good ones. Those throws and catches were outstanding. But 2 weeks in a row we have had some huge plays develop on the outside. Albeit dead on throws and highlight reel catches.

If those rushing yards lead to points, absolutely. I imagine there's more to the argument's details than just something that simple though.
Perhaps, but when i hear the statement it's just about the yardage, no mention of points. But assuredly it goes hand and hand with TOP.

TOP.

Not sure why no one is talking about it, but it was a huge reason we won yesterday as well as several other times this year.

Our first drive was like 6 min. SEA 3 n out. Then more TOP.

At the end, the SEA O had a horrific time getting traction and our D was kept fresh.
Good thread. The offensive scheme gets a lot of criticism, some of which is fair, but it is very effective when the unit's effort level is high and they execute plays with few miscues.

I am really proud of the defense. Seattle's run game was bottled up and Wilson had a couple of SportsCenter highlights but that was it.

Special teams struggled. Maher? ugh. But the punting and punt returns help establish reasonably good field position, which aided our time of possession in regards to the defense stifling a few Seattle drives and getting the ball back to the offense.

Dallas always wins TOP. They were 7th in the league. Detroit was 5 and Carolina 9. KC was 27. It’s an overrated stat. Means nothing if you don’t score or kick FGs. The defensive front 7, Dak, Zeke and Cooper won the game.

The rushing yards yesterday led to minimal points. It was enough, however, because rushing helps control TOP which limits the opposing O's chances as well as helping to keep them from establishing a rhythm.

Controlling TOP has a mountain of good stuff attached to it.

And that D was kept fresh because of TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anything, TOP is an underrated stat that most don't seem to comprehend.

Seahawks fans and media are roasting their OC on Twitter for not putting the ball in Russell's hand.

They should be roasting him. He coached like Linehan did against Washington( 1st game ). Run, run, and pass on 3rd and 3-8 yards, all game long. Consistently only gave Wilson 1 opportunity to convert 3rd downs. Shottenheimer played right into our hands.

I just love smash mouth football. It's the best way to beat down a good defense. Seattle was number 1 against the rush. They were sucking wind at games end. Zeke killed them.

Of course, that's stating the obvious.

However, TOP allows us to get by being a sub par scoring team.

Sometimes? Of course. You can find a scenario for anything.

We'll need to be a better scoring team if we want a team that can make several deep playoff runs over the next several years.
It is not stating the obvious to some, TOP alone is not enough.

Scoring points while winning the TOP is the best recipe for this team is agreed.

Dallas was 22nd in scoring this year. Terrible in the red zone. They do well with TOP and I guess it keeps the D fresh but Coach Rod rotates guys to keep them fresh. They have about 19 guys that play meaningful defensive snaps. Smith, LVE, Jones, Heath, Woods and Chido are the only guys that play more than 75 pct of the snaps.

Only matters if you score TDs.

Yes, some of those catches were perfect plays but like you say, Jones and LVE had a few issues on the last Hawks score and there were other miscues that led to big plays by Woods.

We definitely need a ball Hawk back there hopefully in free agency or the draft we can upgrade the position.

It really is. Unless you have a 00 Ravens D, everything you do on O is meaningless if you don't score at all.

Absolutely!!!!!!

And what did those RB's do? They controlled TOP to help keep that D fresh and helped keep their O from getting into a rhythm. When you have a 3 and out and don't see the ball again for 6 minutes, it's a huge factor.

Of course. Those are also factors.

There was no stopping some of those. Should have stopped some.

True, they made a couple of flat out brilliant plays. Plays that were pretty well defended and Russ and his WRS just made it happen. Thats the place though right? Best of the best and all, didn't matter cause we still handled them.
