2016 was the year to win the Super Bowl

Before the league got the book on Dak.

Before Zeke lost some of his acceleration.

Before Irving jumped off the deep end.

Before Romo/Witten's wisdom left the building.

Before Leary/Free left and injuries took a heavy toll on our oline.

We were the #1 seed, darlings of the NFL, and we were two home games away from playing a Super Bowl in our backyard.

The only thing that stood in front of us was a Packers team RIDDLED with injuries and a flawed Falcons team.

Honestly guys if Garrett couldn't get it done that year with how everything was perfectly aligned for us, then it will never happen. NEVER.

Over the last 72 hours I've spent more time thinking about the 2016 season than 2018 season because that was the real missed opportunity for this franchise.

This year wasn't bad.

We went on the road into a stadium full of Cowboys fans and we were one of the best running teams and faced one of the worst run defenses and we got it handed to us with a top 5 run defense.

Our defense sucked.

What do you think the odds were of beating the Falcons or Patriots?

2016 was highly disappointing. But the falcons and patriots were going to light our defense up too

It was the defense. It's always the defense.

They fold when it matters every single time in the playoffs.

I mean, a suspect defense and a magical play by a future HOF probably stood in the way.

Opportunity was there but it wasn't a flawless team.
Just another game which shows Red is a failure. You beat this team during the reg season running the ball and come out throwing in this one. Brilliant way to use the bye week. Still burns me.

No such thing as a flawless team in the salary cap era but Garrett needs an almost flawless team to win it all with his brand of football.

Our two best chances to win the Super Bowl since the 90s was in 2007 and 2014. We weren’t going to win a Super Bowl with a rookie QB in 2016. A rookie QB has never even led a team to a Super Bowl. By the time you reach the playoffs teams figure things out. The Ravens and Lamar Jackson got figured out in the playoffs. Defenses started figuring out what we were doing with Dak late in 2016.

The last game Aaron Rodgers actually showed up in....he's sucked ever since

If a 41/8 TD/INT ratio and a 97 rating means he sucks, then what the hell are 90% of the teams in the league to do?

You have 2 weeks to prepare. A competent coach finds a game plan to beat their mash unit. They had some of their best players out of that game.

Jordy Nelson - OUT
James Starks - OUT
JC Tretter - OUT
Eddie Lacy - IR
Sam Shields - IR

This.

Some of the nitpicking on here is overkill. I don't give a **** what anybody says, that team was good enough to at the very least make it to the Super Bowl with better coaching. We didn't get the #1 seed by luck. A lot of flawed teams make it and win it. Look at the Giants...hell Jake Delhomme made it to a Super Bowl.
