We need Xs and Os.

Look at the final 4 HCs, all X and O guys.

There arent any games in the Garrett era where we say we outschemed the other team and exploited their weaknesses. But it happens TO Garrett constantly.

2 playoff wins in 8 seasons. TWO.
Despite having franchise QBs, solid Oline and RBs and good overall talent.
In fact, he admits or brags that we don’t do that. We do what we do better. (Except when we don’t)

Champions do both in this era.

You know how the preseason games are the games that don't matter that get you prepared for the regular season? Well, the regular season is the dress rehearsal to get you prepared for the playoffs if you qualify. If you don't qualify, you don't matter. If you make it to the playoffs, that's good, but at some point, you're going to need to win more than one playoff game in a season because the ultimate goal is the championship, not regular season record champs. It's the Super Bowl.

So if you're fine with being regular season champs and view mediocrity as something to cheer, then Garrett is the coach for you.

I and many fellow Cowboys fans view making the playoffs as the bare minimum of acceptability. If you can't even make it to the Conference Championship in your entire coaching run, then you're a loser. PERIOD.

I'm not as hard on Garrett as others however I need to see him do it in the playoffs on a consistent basis before I say anything else. Being the HC of the Dallas Cowboys requires postseason success.

Every freakin coach you listed, aside from Mike Zimmer has either won a super bowl as a coach, or had their team playing in the super bowl! Please don't give me this crap! Garrett's been here since 07, head coach since 2011, and we haven't been able to get past the divisional round once! He's had only 3 double digit win seasons and has lived in medicority.. If you're satisfied with that, then you're part of the problem. Jerry will keep making his $ just to put out an average team

Without Garrett influencing Jethro and Son with the better culture this era, I’m not sure where my hope would come from with our dysfunctional organization?

We’d probably resemble more of the Browns or the Campo era. Even with one of the greatest coordinators in Wade and a HOFamer in Bill no ones had the success, continuity and influence Jason has.

Garrett is the best decision Jerry has made to coexist with his selfish foolishness since at least Bill and most likely Jimmy. And probably the best we can hope for.

I’m still amazed he wanted to stay here instead of bolting to Atl or Balt. And why I’ve always felt he and Jethro have some kind of understanding that someday Jason will become VP or GM. Why else would he have named Jason” the future of the Dallas Cowboys”.

Nothing else makes sense why he’d stay here coaching in the most dysfunctional situation in the NFL where no one expects anyone to have much success with this ownership.

Thanks you Coach G for giving this borderline hopeless fan something to hold my head up with.

Romo, Witten... now.... Dak, Zeke, etc...

It’s a shame really.
Yup, careers being wasted. I was not a big Romo fan but he was a very good QB. If he had real solid coaching he could have won a super bowl. The coaching failed him and many others. It is a shame Dak/Zeke/Cooper and more will have wasted careers because the owner is too stupid and has too big of an ego to hire a real coach and let him build the team the way he needs to. JG must look in the mirror and KNOW he isn't good enough, but in no way will he turn down that money. I guess I don't blame him.

Belichick was an awful coach before he got Brady.

This isn't true. He inherited a team that was a tire fire and made them an 11-5 playoff team that beat the Parcells-led Patriots. They only crapped out in the final season when everybody realized the team was being moved to Baltimore.

Hilariously, the reason everybody hated him in Cleveland (firing Bernie Kosar) was BS. Kosar even later admitted he was toast at that point, and he himself pushed the new Browns to hire Belichick.

Yep.

One of his final acts was to put Ray Lewis on top of the Browns>Ravens draft board.

lol looks like the OP is already giving the Garrett a pass for next season with his over under wins of 8/9 because of a schedule, a schedule doesn't mean nothing year in year out.. Players get older, coaches get stagnant, the better team wins the freakin game... Comical, I tell you... Garrett is a motivational speaker, not a Head Coach!

This game is, and always will be about personnel. In the playoffs, it’s personnel and matchups, because the talent level evens out when you get to the top 12.

I’m all for getting an all-time great anything, so if a guy like Belichick becomes available, by all means, nab him. But, failing that, the smart thing is to work on the talent.

Which we’ve done a much better job of under Garrett. No, he didn’t stumble into a Dick Lebeau defense. We’ve had to build from the ground up. Turns out this organization is pretty dang good-but not great-at assembling talent. Which explains the pretty dang good-but-not-great results we get.

Fans don’t want to hear it. Fans want to change the HC and change the QB. Fans are mostly pretty stupid. But just because a mob is going somewhere doesn’t mean you need to grab your pitchfork.
