Voicing concern, doubt, criticism equates to “hate” in today’s society.

You can be concerned about his back but there really was no discernible decline in his play especially give the circumstances.

If it’s true he’s playing at the same level yet some people say he fell off due to whatever biases then maybe that’s indeed what’s called hate.

At his prime I'd say he was a HOF level player. He's kinda slipped a bit with that back but he's still a top-ten tackle in the league IMO.

It just feels like a bigger slip than it is after he used to go back and forth with Joe Thomas for "best LT in the league". We see him losing on a speed rush once a game or drawing a holding penalty and it feels like the sky is falling, but if La'El played snap-in snap-out like Tyron does, we'd be calling him a stud.

People have biases regarding Tyron Smith?

That’s a new one.

Who would have a bias against T Smith?

Is this a serious post?

Give or take a few years, he's been the best LT in football for a decade. We underrate this guy and under-appreciate him for taking such a big hometown discount on his deal.

No one is hating on him. Just concerned with his decline in play due to a bad back.

Ogden, Munoz, Roaf, Jones.

Tyron hasn't been the same guy at least the last couple of years, and likely never will again.

As a prospect he compares with the tops of all time, but his period of dominance is too short to even be talking top 5. If he had stayed healthy, he'd be in the conversation.

It's possible the back heals up enough. Even with the neck issues this year, the back did seem better. But as of now, no.

I disagree, Jason Peters has been the best LT.in football for a long time.

He just had one of his best years statistically

I think Tyron Smith had moments where he looked bad because our team gave up around 50 sacks.

Personally I find it hard to grade the line of scrimmage while watching the game, so you see a couple sacks go down and it seems like the whole OL is playing bad, but a closer look at film reveals otherwise.

I think you do have to be concerned about long term durability though. That's always true for anyone with a back problem, nothing against Tyron.

Maybe stat wise. But there were times when pedestrian players would just get past him....that’s not what we are use to seeing him do.

Are you aware of all the different kinds of biases out there? Ppl have a recency bias based on his back injury the last couple of years so they find attributable to that any perceived slip in performance when in fact he’s played at the same level when on the field.

I would add Orlando Pace.

I think "All Time" discussions can only be done when their careers are over.

If Tyron can somehow get over his injuries (unlikely I know) and play another 3 years or so at an elite level =, he will be right there with these other guys.

Top 10?

I wonder if there are 9 guys better.

Either way, I think two conversations are being had here.

Top 3 of All Time – Entire Resume
Top 10 – Last Couple of Years

Both things could technically be true.
