I remember thinking that it was time for the Legend Tom Landry to move on, so, I wasn;t bent out of shape the way he was fired.

The great Jimmy Johnson didn't have a great start in Dallas, and I remember some were sporting t-shirts that said "Tom Landry: Still, the only coach the Dallas Cowboys have ever had."

Thanks for posting. This could actually be a fun post - provided, of course, we don't give in to the dark side and make every comment about the dearth of championships the past couple of decades.

Do you remember where you were when Jerry bought the team. I do - vividly.

I was sitting in Lagos, Nigeria and reminding myself that the next time a senior manager asked, "where would you like to work next?" don't offer that somewhere warm would be nice.

Although I wasn't alive in 1989, and although I do loathe Jerry and his decision making at times, I couldn't imagine the game without him.

I appreciate his passion and his loyalty to his associates and to the city of Dallas, but ****** I just want to win again man.

The FO needs to be better. Dallas hasn't done anything since the Herschel Walker Trade. They won 3 championships from that trade.

the first five or six years with jimmy was good but after jimmy jerry turned into a pumpkin the cowboys as a org. since have sucked and I don't see any different outcome until jerry is not running the team any more

I still have the Dallas Cowboys Weekly issue that came out after he bought the team, and every issue for the next 10 or 11 years.

Was living in Jupiter, FL and Cowboys news at the time was wherever I could get it though the Palm Beach Post had very good sports coverage of all the teams. So I subscribed to it to get my Cowboys news fix. I stopped it after I moved to DFW area in 1998.

And no that massage parlor that Kraft was caught at, was not there when I lived there, that I know of. .
I plan to take a road trip there in the next few months to check on my property though. May take a drive by for curiosity sake.

Jerry is the living embodiment of a two sided coin.

He’s done some good things- mainly for himself and other NFL owners, but he does deserve credit for hiring Jimmy Johnson and letting Jimmy run the team. That became the formula for 3 SBs. Thanks for that Jerry. He is clearly a businessman of great talent.

On the flip side, he is also responsible for the last 23 years of mediocrity and playoff failure, mostly because of his obstinate stupidity to not be able to admit that he is not, nor will he ever be a “football man”. He is clearly not a good GM. His willful refusal to hire a talented head coach because of his strange fear of being overshadowed is what makes him a complete idiot as a GM.
