Free agent signings:
- DT Darius Philon (the 25 y/o stepped in & started 17 games over the past 2 seasons -- posting 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks & 2 forced fumbles...Cowboys have 3 unrestricted free agent DT's this offseason & 2 playing in their contract years in 2019 -- wouldn't mind adding a younger player that has already done a little something in the league, particularly with the expected loss of the talented but unreliable Irving & Collins being injury prone & one of the aforementioned contract year players)

- S Adrian Phillips (as Gus Bradley put it...Phillips has played SS, FS, nickel & dime, and they were comfortable with him no matter where he lined up...he's also a pro bowl ST player -- the 26 y/o was born & raised in Garland, Texas & played at UT)

- RB Jalen Richard (the Raiders may want to retain the versatile/shifty restricted FA...but would make a solid offer)

Re-sign: D-Law, LP, Fleming, R. Smith (instead of a traditional FB ... FB/RB3/ST in this case) ... retain Lee if able to reach a deal that significantly reduces his cap cost...extend Cooper to reduce cap hit

Draft:
2nd: WR Deebo Samuel (possibly my fave WR in the class...possesses a stouter frame...can play inside or out...capable as a blocker & already runs solid routes to varying levels of the field...capable contributor on ST's & can be utilized on gadget plays...additionally, Williams has already been let go, Beasley is expected to sign elsewhere and Hurns is a good candidate for release given his cap number & lesser role)

3rd: TE Isaac Nauta (his blocking alone could help him see the field earlier on & all know how the team values blocking at the position...has some nastiness to his game with some upside as an underutilized pass catcher given UGA's quality/depth of NFL prospects at the WR position)

4th: *use to move up a bit for Samuel if he's within range

4th: DT Daylon Mack (pair him w/ Woods at 1-tech...Philon & Collins could be the primary 3's...D-Law, Crawford, Gregory, Armstrong & Taco, are the DE's)

5th: OT Dennis Daley or Paul Adams
7th: LB Khalil Hodge or possibly best available CB

You can’t speculate on the draft until free agency is over.

I hesitated to post this...& it will likely be my last post re: the draft, etc. Was actually looking forward to constructive criticism..particularly from the likes of UJ8, RS, and several others, as that's what made the board fun/entertaining. But too many weak/shallow opinions now. The board has went to hell. Oh well. Will continue to follow those I like. C'mom folks...love hearing shots, but at least grow a pair.

My take:
I had to look up who Darius Philon was, can’t fairly comment but I’m all for a FA DT that’s an upgrade on Woods/Collins.

I worry that Adrian Phillips is Jeff Heath MKII. I’d like a guy that can be more more of an upgrade.

Not sure I’d trade up for Deebo but I have him in the mix for our pick at 58. Need to see what he runs at the combine.

Overall it’s in the ball park of what I’d like to see happen. I’d be pretty happy if it all went down like that.

I don't understand those who post mocks here (or Twitter) and get upset if anyone criticizes or dislikes them. It's as if you are saying: " Here's my idea, only respond with resounding praise!"

It's an opinion and this who praise or criticize it are only adding their opinion.

I could see how you might have taken my post as criticism and I'm never afraid to critique someone's mock or have my own critiqued. However, in this case, I was referring to how you signed lesser-known players (Philon, Phillips, and Richard) like the Cowboys have they past few years. I've posted several times that I have a feeling Deebo is our guy in the 2nd round. Nauta also feels like a guy this FO would take.

Perhaps I should have worded it like " I can very much see the Cowboys having an off-season very similar to this."

Keep posting your mocks and takes, and don't let other posters's responses alter your willingness to discuss your team.

I also liked how all of your free agents are 27 or younger. Obviously, Earl would be an exception, but I'm a big believer in signing free agents who are not too old. 26-29 is the age where most professional athletes are still in their prime and have enough experience and wisdom to maximize on their physical tools. Basically, haven't quite slowed own yet.

I think this is a solid effort. Like someone else mentioned I would not trade up for Deebo but he is one I would be targeting at 58. I would use that 4th on a RB instead of the F.A. from the raiders. There are a lot of good young and cheap backs in this draft. All in all it makes sense to me. I especially like what you have done for the DT position.

I like that draft a good bit. Just okay with the FA group.

I like the positions of target for FA, just don’t know a ton about the dudes.

If we trade a pick to move up in the draft for a WR I’ll be sick.

That all depends.

If Stephen Jones decided to get more creative and/or aggressive in FA to address other areas of the roster, I would be perfectly fine for trading up to ensure they get the WR they want.

If Beasley leaves, this is an instant need. Not huge, but still crucial. I don't have a ton of faith in the current group of receivers to fill the slot void.

Wilson could be that guy, but fact is, he is unproven. If there is one thing we do sometimes is overrate our own talent and end up paying for it.

Slot only guys go in the 4th round and beyond...no need to draft one early unless you’re looking for more of a traditional outside WR that is able to play slot.

Wouldn’t mind value slot option in FA, just don’t know who’s available outside keeping Austin.

Solid plan
I wouldnt use a 4th to trade up but FA are realistic options and picks have merit
One can nit pick any mock but overall very solid

I am not sure why people are so intent on adding Deebo to the point of trading picks to move up to get him.

I like him but not enough to start chasing him in the 2nd round.

Not sure where I got upset? Regarding your initial reply, I simply asked "whom might you prefer instead". The scenario was intentionally done to be 'somewhat front office-like', to include the lesser known free agents (though I definitely like the 3 listed). Thus, I actually agreed with what you said. I could post a fantasy scenario regarding free agency, etc...but prefer to stay somewhat in the realm of possibilities in terms of how the team operates. Not to mention, over the next couple of years, they have to make contract decisions on D-Law, Cooper, Zeke, Dak, Jones, Jaylon, Collins, etc.

As far as criticism goes, I welcome it. That's part of the fun and the reason I stated "was actually looking forward to constructive criticism" ... and "love hearing shots". I simply prefer when others offer their own counter ideas or at least expound on things a bit. Unfortunately, that's what I've noticed a bit less of on the board as a whole, which makes it less fun IMO.

As far as posting goes...despite being a member here since 2006, I obviously don't post much to begin with lol. And that has nothing to do with member responses, etc.

I agree on not signing free agents that are too old...but would also love to add Earl.
