The domino effect of the DL absences

Without another threat on the outside, the Cowboys are forced to find a DT who can generate pressure up the middle and get sacks.

Crawford, Taco and Armstrong will also have to play bigger roles.
Crawford’s best is what we saw last season. Flashes but nothing consistent and totally average. Sums up his entire career.

I have higher hopes for Armstrong than Taco.
It would be a shocker if the FO went after Frank Clark DE and resign Lawrence. Maybe too expensive but that will be a heck of duo DEs.

If price is reasonable we really can use Crawford's versatility. We are pretty thin at the DL right now.

we also have an issue at RDE, Taco then who? sand base indeed C.C. on another note if, IF Thomas can pass a physical and also perform near or like he did before the injury he would be a no brainer for safety. a calculated market value for DLaw is 19.7m ouch.

But all the values have increased, the new 19.7M is the old 15M.

And overpaying for a handful of players isn't a problem if they've balanced that out with enough overachievers based on salary like they've had with Prescott, Elliott, Jaylon, LVE and Lord Byron.

I don’t know if that don’t vale the middle as much as the don’t value the massive DT that is more plugger than penetrator.
And I don't know as it's they don't value the middle as much as they don't understand it.

Bash gregory for his stupidity all you want
His play on the field was a huge bonus.

Back half if the year he was our best pass rusher.

He is going to be missed on game day and he has caused this team another huge headache. It's so infuriating, 1 step forward 2 steps back with this team and roster building.
A bonus? You think getting decent play from a 2nd round pick is a bonus?

Last year mcclay and stephen corrected the swing tackle problem, gave us an nfl quality wr group, fixed the lb, etc. They'll figure this out. Fortunately we found out about randy early enough to do something about it. Cut randy, bease, lee and pick up some money for free agency. Sign tank quickly to spread out his cap hit. Look hard at free agency. Tavon and hurns? Probably going to have to go. Damage control time.

Losing Irving, not a surprise, and Gregory, not a surprise to many, and the cornered position of management with Lawrence's contract has caused all of the dominoes to fall in Earl Thomas' direction.

Or, they consider losing Irving and Gregory a major setback to their plans, and their expectations for the defense, pushing contender status further into the future, particularly with guys we're going to let walk for money in the next year or two.

When you push contender status off into the future, you're not so eager to sign big money older players coming off injury.

Not a huge deal. Irving did nothing all year and Gregory didn’t come along till the end. Hoping Taco takes a step forward and now the other DE that had talent will get a chance. We need fresh rotation players.
come on Taco has a complete bust

I think ET and Tyler Eifert in FA.

This draft is great for the defensive line. I go d-line with as many picks as they want. It's need but BPA also because of the depth in this draft at d-line.

You need pressure up the middle even w/ another outside threat.

Can you get that memo to Jerry?
Yep..Our secondary even with Thomas will be in question without a pass rush.

If you’re going to spend money in FA. Go after DL not an aging battered Safety which is no longer our weakness on defense.

They couldn’t have been counting on Irving being in the picture next season anyway, and while losing Gregory hurts, his loss does not rise to the level of being insurmountable.

Yea, those risks we were applauding last year just took another plunge. Let’s hope Jaylon stays healthy or our 2nd risk will be a total bust setting this defense back.

DL should be the priority in draft and or FA. Without a pass rush we’ve seen decent talent before in our secondary look awful.

Not unless you don’t sign Lawrence which appears unthinkable now. We can only ponder to what the effects could be.

IMHO, with the likely improvement of Taco and Armstrong, together with the acquisition of help through FA and the draft, the void left by the loss of Gregory should be minimal. In fact, I think we’re better off with a “fresh start”, without the distraction. I mean, what did Gregory actually provide? Five or six sacks and a handful of hurries, but time and resources and negative press in babysitting mode means what?
