So in other words............ same team as 2018 with a couple of mid round draft picks sprinkled in.

Sounds like a recipe for a SB run.

I picked them to win 7 or fewer games last year. I imagine you were about the same prediction or lower.

Guess we were both wrong.

I’d rather them sign them then not......but the plan shouldn’t be Earl Thomas or nothing. If you have money to sign him then you should be looking to spend that money.

Yep. There will be some other options at S, likely cheaper, that while not as good, would still upgrade the position. You could probably get a decent DT and a S for what they might spend on Thomas.

This is not surprising. The odds of the Cowboys resigning/extending all of these guys without over paying someone is extremely low. Probably at least one of these guys and maybe more could be problematic. Tank already appears to be problematic.

The smartest move is work like hell to get him signed before free agency actually opens or move on from him as soon as is practical.

They already slapped the tag on him so they have until July to work out a deal. No need to do it in the next couple of days.

I was just watching NFL Network, they are reporting that the Cowboys have 5 guys they plan on re-signing.

1 .Dak Prescott
2. Zeke Elliott
3 Amari Cooper
4. D_Law
5. Byron Jones

They do not plan on being active in FA and if Earl Thomas does not come down from the $14 per year he wants, he wont ever be a Cowboy.

Just tell me that wasn't any sort of an announced order of priority?!?!?!?!?
:omg:

That would be the wiser decision. But instead they are going to have to pick from leftovers as opposed to picking from a solid crop of players.

Honestly. What other successful team does this?

Patriots? Nope
Eagles? Nope
Rams? Nope
Saints? Nope

And by "this" I mean to basically ignore free agency? Where did this grand idea come from?

All those guys were on the field when the Rams biotch slapped us around for 3 hours.

So how exactly are we getting better with no first round pick and ignoring free agency?
Well the Rams are likely to lose a few of their top FAs so that’ll help. I’m not sure about the Saints but I guess they’ll lost some important players too.

The Cowboys are trying not to lose key players. If Fred Beard is 100% the oline likely improves a lot. There are a ton of safeties available where they can improve for Heaths spot. Not sure I’d give Byron big money but we’ll see.

This is disappointing to say the least. Not that it isn’t a priority to sign those guys, but we were told not too long ago that they would be “aggressive” this offseason. I hope this report is inaccurate.
