Odd that people just blame Wade. The entire team was lost., Not just one side of the ball. Both should've been fired the same day. But Jerry's intentions were very clear from day 1 of the Garrett hire and he was looking for the right moment to elevate his boy toy to HC. Golden opportunity to blame one and vindicate the other.

I think the only reason that Jerry actually went away from Garrett as a play caller, is because Romo must have made some demands when getting his new contract. Romo had all the leverage in the world coming off 2013 as an unrestricted free agent.

He wasn’t even part of game planning meetings with Garrett and while many spun the comments of Jerry regarding Romo as having “Peyton Manning” like responsibilities with the new contract as an excuse he didn’t really invest time, in reality it said more about Garrett’s influence being lessened. Wade Wilson had comments that this was going to allow for more of Romo’s influence into the offense and even Garrett had to spin the move as it makes sense for the QB to be in game planning.

The Callahan issues also revealed more about Garrett, because it took one season of revamping the OL and implementing the successful zone blocking running schemes where Jerry even considered giving him the play calling duties, stripping them from Jason but even then Jerry tolerated the interference of Jason in Callahan’s duties, which shows how much ingrained he was in the culture. This was the first year of Romo’s contract year, so it’s clear their were tensions from this aspect.

If it was any other coach besides Jason, Jerry would have fired him.

"No, I'm not partial to the Cowboys organization, despite the fact that I work for the Cowboys organization."

They could tell you anything they wanted, and you would buy it - Hook, line and sinker.

Or you're ignorant enough to think nobody can do their job without being a homer. What a fool

Because he's not indebted to keep things under wraps any longer. He's done with the Cowboys, and the NFL entirely. He's now free to tell the truth, or the truth as he saw it. Is that so hard to understand?

Let me use small words so you understand. He has been free to say what he wants. He hasn't been under contract for a while now. He left the organization march 2014 not a bad word said about the cowboys. He retired in 2016, with nothing to say to his old organization. So why now? Why bring up any ill feelings now? The opportunity would have been when he was with our rival. So it took him 3 years removed from football and 5 years away from the cowboys to make his feelings known? Sounds like someone who just needs attention.

When Jerry Gabe Romo that new contract in 2013, he gave an inordinate amount of time peddling the idea that Jason Garrett wants that and he did this after Jason left.

Also, the mentioning of Frederick here is pretty interesting, because both Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett though they were drafting Sharif Floyd, which was another embarrassing draft board incident. Marinelli didn’t agree with Floyd either and both Callahan and Romo wanted Frederick. SoJwrry ultimately pulled the Frederick move.

Jones showed he wasn't kidding by seeking Romo's input before Dallas drafted Wisconsin center/guard Travis Frederick late in the first round and grabbed a complement to tight end Jason Witten in Gavin Escobar of San Diego State in the second round. Neither player was projected as high as he was picked.

"The more Tony can be involved in what we're doing offensively, the more the product we have out there (that) complements his skills, the more we're going to do it," Jones said.

The draft talk is more symbolic — Jones says a few minutes of input can't outweigh a year's worth of scouting work — but it was noteworthy that Romo called Frederick "the best player in this draft at his position" the day after he was taken.

The cameras from the post-draft news conference with coach Jason Garrett were gone when Jones, the self-professed gambler, went more all in than he already was with Romo by invoking the name of Manning, the Denver quarterback and Super Bowl winner in Indianapolis who's been known to beat coaches to the training facility in the morning.

"I can speak for Jason in this respect," Jones said. "Everything he's about wants more buy-in and more participation from the player. So that if Tony for instance would be here Monday through Saturday, that is far better, and be here from 7 in the morning till 6 o'clock at night and all over the place. Then that's better than the way it's been. We'll have more success."

I think it had more to do w/ coming off a 22-26 stretch and two 8-8 seasons and a 15th in points scored ranking. Jerry had to do something to lay blame even though he was the GM that didn't even notice the OL falling apart back in 09 already right in front of his eyes.

Jerry also demanded that Romo cut his crapp in the offseason and show more commitment. Romo agreed, but then turned around and demanded that Jerry spend a 1st on the OL if Jerry wanted him to sign the contract renegotiation, which Jerry needed to get under the cap, which he had mismanaged horribly.

I have a lot more respect for him doing it that way. Can't stand former players that go to a rival and then talk trash.

No doubt about that. Funny that Jerry hires this QB guru/slash offensive genius and a few years down the line is stripping him of his offensive duties. That's not a red flag? LOL His usage is now motivational speaker of some sort?? That's really paying off. Should've never been hired. Maybe QB coach a fews years but Jerry loves finding the next genius. experience??? resume??? no need for any of that.
