We had to trade a draft pick to replace Smith, so you're OK with doing that each time, trading down a round to get a fullback when we could have just re-signed our own. And then there's no guarantee that you are going to find a fullback to trade for.

We had to fill the position with someone capable of being out there. The cost relative to the position is not high. We've got the position secured for the next three years. And frankly, if we use him better, Olawale can be a decent weapon for us from the spot.
Yeah, I loved him dropping a WIDE-OPEN TD against the Colts. We don’t use a FB enough to sign even the best one for as much as we just gave this stiff.

Well - all I heard with bringing in a new OC was we weren't going to be conservative anymore - or predictable etc.. Keeping a roster spot for the FB position when you hardly used it last year is questionable. Why not grab a super quick and nifty pass-catching-capable RB role player instead of this position - it isn't like we were having a Moose-type lead full-back blocking for Zeke anyway - so I don't get this, and between this and Witten (whom I will always think is fantastic) I really do NOT feel this offense is likely to be more creative, innovative, or aggressive in any way shape or form lol - sheesh. PLUS, even "if" I don't Olawale played very well in limited snaps last year - don't remember a ton of special team plays (of course the goal line pass drop missed TD looms in memory too). They don't play him - then don't was the roster spot. OR - if you want to pass to a FB or have him run sometimes - upgrade the talent level at the position to someone younger maybe?

I'm speechless bro, literally speechless.

They wont pony up $3 extra million for ET but then turn around and give this type of coin to a trash FB.

I hate this FO soo much:mad:

The Ravens blew ET away with their deal. He gets $22 million guaranteed, if I read it right. I was just as mad as you are until I saw the contract details.

As for Olawale, I hope they have a plan for him. This was a complete waste of cap space if they don't.

I have seen 5 year olds playing franchise mode on Madden put a roster together better than this group of clowns.

And they wonder why they cant win anything, why is it so hard? Why, why, why?

Well, could be because your stupid...………….like the saying goes, life is hard......but its even harder when your stupid.

Maybe not but his agent can sure deal.

The Cowboys must see something in him or they would not have resigned him. Just sayin.

Maybe. ;)

This last paragraph got my attention:

"Unfortunately, with the vanilla game planning in preseason we didn't get to see how Offensive Coordinator Scott Linehan plans to utilize Olawale's versatility, but I expect that to change once the season gets underway. I personally believe he will add yet another dimension to the Cowboys offense."

My conclusion: Linehan truly sucks.

3 year contract for a rarely used player?.....:lmao:..............I REALLY do try to like our FO..........but I can't.

This truly is a dysfunctional FO with no direction...........I truly don't understand how anyone could possibly defend it.

This is still Garrett's offensive philosophy, and he likes having a fullback. Moore has to design plays that fit within the philosophy. Frankly, that's part of what hampered Linehan. If Kellen wanted to go full spread, he wouldn't be the offensive coordinator here.

The only thing that excited me when I saw this notification pop up on my phone was that I knew a thread was being created on the forum that would not disappoint!

Why? He barely played on offense and I'm sure there are less expensive special teamers.

Eleven page thread over a fullback . wow:omg:
It is probably because the guy rarely got snaps - that is a lot of money for NOT using a player that doesn't back up a critical spot either - maybe he was way better on Special Teams than I thought.....

I think some think that Dallas paying him $2 million per year kept us from getting Earl Thomas. Either that or they have to pay the players' salary. Signing Olawale has no bearing on anything Dallas does or doesn't do during free agency other than not signing a different fullback.

If someone wants to debate that they could have gotten a better fullback for less (or the same amount), I'm fine with that even though there's no proof that it is true.

wut
We brought back the guy we refused to use last year, and gave him a big raise?

I was psyched about Olawale last year. But we didn't use him, so it was wasted money. Now we want to waste twice as much on an older player?

Olawale and Austin as part of our base sounded great to me. We'd have 4 run threats on the field. An in space blocker better than our jv TEs. And a guy who was a significant threat deep. Sounded perfect. Yet we didn't do that.

So what's the point now? Was he our secret weapon we were waiting to unleash in the SB?

And how is it possible that they couldn't get Olawale cheaper? 30 year old FB, never had more than 33 touches, years ago. And he had *2* touches for us last year.

What part of that says 2.7mil guaranteed? He's closer to veteran minimum, not guaranteed, and probably lucky to even remain in the league this year.

So either last year we massively screwed up by not playing Olawale more, or he caught Jerry drunk with a pen in his hand today.
