Picking up Hurns option made it pretty clear IMO, they had no interest in free agent WR, especially slot. Stephen said a month ago, Hurns would replace Besley.

I agree, and it wouldn't be prudent to spend as much as the Giants did on Tate. I actually credit Jerry and Stephen on passing on this deal.

That's a pretty big downgrade from Beasley imo.

Tate would have been an upgrade and a step in the right direction imo

Agreed. That is off. I'd be interested to see the guarantees because $23 million is a lot for him. If that's the going rate for a 3rd tier slot WRs, then I say John Ursua in round 7, come to Dallas.

Allen Hurns at this exact moment:

If they don’t sign Lawrence and don’t extend Dak or Zeke, what exactly is that money being spent on?

I actually think they will sign at least 2 of the 3 of those. The FO just tends to be a bit slower on that sort of thing, but I think they will sort it out.

giants signed and lost on Olivier Vernon. same for nate solder. paid thru the nose and lost out on beckham. now golden tate. blew it with apple. blew it with Collins. now that's a lousy front office. some of us don't realize how fortunate we are to have Stephen.

So this move must have been for Eli? they would have been better off getting him a walker or at least a cane

Golden Tate signed a 4 year, $37,500,000 contract with the New York Giants, including $23,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $9,375,000. In 2019, Tate will earn, while carrying a cap hit of .

Oh my word!! That is a lot of money! I didn't realise the $23 mil was the guarantees. That is an absurd amount of money. I know he's quite good as a slot, but that is insane.

They could've kept Cole Beasley for less if they wanted to spend that much on a 3rd WR. Not surprised he isn't a Cowboy.

Is this similar to what Beasley got from the Bills? Just me but I see this as 3-year $23M = little over $7M per year.

This confidence is based on what exactly?

Well, it took a bit of prodding, but they did end up getting Dez sorted out, didn't they? I think we've got a bit more time with Dak and Zeke too, don't we? If we've got a 5th year with Zeke, then he's not due until 2021, if I'm not mistaken. Dak's on the last year of his contract. To be fair, this is probably make or break for him, so we'll likely have one more go at him. So, to me, if it's 2 out of 3, then I reckon it'll be Zeke in 2021 getting his extension, and then it'll be down to either Dak or DLaw, depending on how each does. So, that's just my take. Maybe I'll be wrong, but it's just the way I view it.

Amari Cooper will be a fun contract. Once Zeke, Prescott, and if Lawrence gets a big contract, fast forward 4-5 years, when the dead money piles up.

I like the fact that the Eagles wasted a 3rd round pick in this years draft by trading for Tate to play half a season with them.

Really not all that clever with Tate, were Philly? Just didn't quite work out that well for them, did it?

Holy mother....I’m not worried about the Gnats and wanted Tate here but figured he would go to NE or Pitt. Either way, the Giants just became a little more of a threat.
