Tank is a much better player than fans give him credit for
He’s not Mack but he’s a very complete player
I remember fans bashing Ware because his sacks weren’t on 3rd downs
Reality is he’s pretty dang good and worth 20
The biggest issue at this point to me is the 20 actually has a logical thought process behind it, 22 doesn’t and he’s messed around and all but wasted half a season not getting surgery
You call it "he's messed around". I call it bad advice from his agent and it also has me rethinking if he's a true team leader.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Dallas is being more than fair, if DLaw is holding out for 22 mill then move on.
I would have already traded him if this is true. No "impasse". But then again, his agent is probably driving for Dallas to pull his tag to begin with.

Say they pay him what he wants would it be fair for fan expectation for him to play as the best DE in the NFL? No excuses, no blaming others but actually holding the player accountable. He did not do jack in post season but all I heard was it was Marinelli fault or Richards fault when the fact is these high priced players stand around getting their pay check and get free passes from the fan base. You want big money then play to that level and should he be paid as the top then nothing less should be expected from his play.
I don’t give a flying F what fan expectation is. I’m solely concerned on the effects on our DL, our defense as a whole and the ultimate effects a lesser defense has on the offense and team results.

If saving a couple million on a contract cost us the season then this will be where my analysis of a failed season begins. Losing two high risk and not signing our Pro Bowler on DL.

Just because context matters..

The veteran is a premier pass rusher who's logged 25 sacks in the last two seasons and was also tied for the most tackles for loss and/or no gain in 2018, per Pro Football Focus, alongside Calais Campbell of the Jacksonville Jaguars. These are numbers that prove Lawrence to be one of the best in the league, and the Cowboys agree that he is

That 25 sacks is MORE than Khalil Mack over the last two seasons.

I can see it now. He ends up signing for 20 or 21 million in a few months. Finally gets his shoulder surgery and kisses training camp and the first month of the season. Then doesn’t quite get going on the seasons and ends up with average results. All for 21 million and the first year of a big contract was a a waste when it should be a highly productive year for that money. If this guy was serious about football he would have had the surgery done already. He is going to get paid regardless why not be ready for training camp?

Overpay for Tank: lose Smith or LVE or Byron Jones, not get an accomplished 1T because your are saving money, get only adequate 3T, and just hope that the pressure you get from the RDE you can keep getting is from a draft pick because if you ever get a good RDE he will demand more money than Tank is demanding because he plays the "position".

Tough decision, but an injured guy with injury history, who didn't show up in the playoffs ----- I know what NE would do, and unfortunately they are the ones that Dallas should be trying to become like.

I think its encouraging that the AAV isn't too far off. But this report seems dubious and probably some false info being spread by 1 side. This isn't NBA or NFL, NFL contract negotiations come down to guaranteed money and not AAV.

Regardless, fans are getting waaay to worked up over this. It's not even draft time. I won't start getting concerned until OTAs come around and wont panic until training camp. If there's no deal by training camp then I'd seriously consider trading him.

To Lawrence, that offer is lowball.
Tank hasn't done anything in this league to command that kind of money though. So he had one season where he finished in the top 5 in the league in sacks. Big deal.

Jerry needs to remind his agent that he has played in 5 playoff games and hasn't sacked a QB in any of them since 2014.

I assume the right to complain about every penny this organization spends when I've been a season ticket and seat licenses owner for several seasons. I don't ask you to agree with that opinion but just know that is where I am coming from.
I understand your viewpoint but I think its a bit antiquated. Player salaries and ownership revenue is tied to the TV, Media, sponsorship deals the league makes.
At the end of the day why even complain what a team spends on player salaries? There is a salary cap for a reason. Tank making 22 vs 20 will have zero impact on how much you pay for seats, parking, concessions. Do you think the Cowboys have such slim margins for profitability that paying 2 million extra will have that sort of impact? I don't have the numbers but I'm sure the Cowboys turn a very very large profit every year. And I'm very happy they do. Jerry took a risk in 1989 buying the Cowboys. I know he was leveraged out his ears. I'm for players and owners making money. Owners just have this stupid narrative they push when players hold out for money, not just NFL owners all sports owners. Let the market determine the value of the players. Owners love the Franchise Tag, Salary cap.

Everybody talking about good deal. For all we know this guy will never be the same again after surgery.

I really dont even want tank on the team. Just trade him or let him walk/sitout and keep the money to go elsewhere on the team.

In my eyes this guy is already damaged goods and a major risk.
its a shoulder, surgery makes it even more of an issue IMHO. Right now it is all loose. Tighten it up and now an injury is more severe. It is nuisance injury it is not like he is a QB that needs that shoulder for throwing. He played with it for almost 2 seasons. What the man needs is another real pass rusher opposite of him so that the line can actually apply pressure evenly.

22M for a oft injured guy who disappears at season end, just watch his play decline as soon as he see's the $$$$.
He's the only one on our line that actually sees double teams or double team with a chip block. Idgad what his numbers show at certain times, I see his hustle and I see what offenses do.

Some of you need to stop with the belief that all players quit after being paid. And I was quick to write him off after his rookie year, but his ability is no longer a doubt.

You don't have any bad memories about what this defense looked like without a passrush? I should try and drag up some of those war daddy threads and compare this forums takes.
So because DLAW is the designated "war daddy", you're okay with him holding the team hostage by not getting shoulder surgery until he gets a new deal?

It’s just business. Fans get entirely too emotional about the process.

I'm sure you don't, I am concerned as well about the DL and over the last 8 games of the season when the team was actually winning game DLaw impact was minimal he had 2.5 sacks over our last 8 games so lets not act as if his play was great it wasn't and clearly not to that level. I think Dallas has been fair in their offer which would make him the highest paid DE in the NFL. He can take it or leave as far as I am concerned.

You guys are missing the point. Originally Tank wanted 20 million a year. After Dallas agreed, Tanks agent upped it to 22 million. Sorry but i don't like that and while i hate to lose him im trading him to buffalo
