The eagles continue to get older with guys that are signed for 1 yr but them too cant resign Went. Yes they continue to keep signing players with known names on their jerseys, but theyre washed up. Trying to hold on before they have to bust it up in a yr or two.

Professional contracts are simply out of control. I remember when Emmitt signed an eight year deal back in '96 for $63M with $15M guaranteed and everyone thought things couldn't possibly go higher.

That being said, the owners pockets have gotten nothing but deeper since then and all money is a giant pool to play in, just comes down to who you're letting in.

I don't think you can declare it a good or bad idea unequivocally either way. Contrary to your feelings here, the Eagles won a Super Bowl "loading up" while the Rams got there themselves. As for the Cowboys, what has "slow and steady" won them? They're struggling to re-sign their best defender and they're approaching the end of their "Dak discount" and will soon have to pay him too. In the meantime, they've neither won anything nor actually gotten all that close. And now their faced with paying 4 to 5 contracts requiring paying players among the top 5 at their respective positions. I can't think of a single team that has been able or willing to do that.

What you are saying is simply not true

LAR has 88m in cap space next year...... Goff already counts 9m this year.... it won't be that big an increase.....in fact an extension could save a few million this year

The Eagles are borrowing heavily from the future but they won the SB and that is all that matters .... and they followed up with a Playoff season with their backup QB.... the cap will keep going up and the new CBA will probably erase some issues

theyre not struggling, they just dont think he worth as much as he wants. And arent going to do it if hes not 100%. Again Lawrence isnt going to be making 20mil every yr. But them guys on the rams and eagles are going to be in the meat of their contracts in 2020 and 2021 when they try to sign goff and wentz. Making it harder to do without breaking up their core.

Why not ride the cheap ELC deal, and or make sure he's truly a franchise QB or glorified system QB in the mean time?

we hear that every year about teams..."they won't be able to do this or that because of the cap"....yet they do it. even this year, we heard the Eagles couldn't do anything....yet they did. the cap is a joke unless your last name is Jones.

I like how Dallas has been bring players in over the last few seasons. I know some want the big splash name but seems to me it seldom works out as teams hope.

And there's no guarantees at this point that the Rams will even want to get into a huge money long term deal with Goff. He didn't do much once the Bears and then everyone except Dallas figured out that McVay was still coaching him up from the sidelines. He may not even ultimately be "their guy".

I don't believe that's a true statement salary cap is never really been an issue for this franchise. You just make it a longer-term deal pay on the back end. But eventually it comes back to bite you. Is no real easy solution to how to win in the salary cap era football. You just have to have the correct amount of football players equal to money Players. And great coaching
