6. I think there’s a story on NFL Network you’ve got to see later this week. The Network will air it several times starting Friday night. It’s reporter Mike Garafolo’s piece on a Division II edge-rushing prospect from the University of Charleston (W.Va.), Kahzin Daniels. Daniels is a late-round/free-agent type, but he’s caught the NFL’s attention because he had 31.5 college sacks, most often getting blocked by more than one lineman. The kicker: Daniels is completely blind in his right eye. Good football piece; better life piece. Garafolo finds an 8-year-old boy going blind in his left eye, and shows Daniels mentoring him. Powerful piece.

Wasn’t there a Jets WR named Walker back in the early 80s who was legally blind in one eye? If memory serves me correct, he was a pretty good player.

Legally blind and completely blind are worlds apart. Legally blind simply means your vision is too bad for glasses to correct it all the way back to 20/20. You still have depth perception and can clearly identify objects in front of you.

From the way this story is worded, if the D-II player puts his hand over his left eye, he’s blind. Obviously 2 working eyes is better, but I don’t know how that would hinder a talented D-lineman enough to prevent an NFL career. However, it would be impossible for a WR to do that without the ability to track the ball in the air with no depth perception.

He’s 240 lbs but man he’s quick
He also seems to use his hands well
Don’t know if he could be an every down guy unless he bulked up but he’s over come a big obstacle in life so I wouldn’t bet against him
If he’s there in the 7th I’d take a shot on him

As a 7th round pick or UDFA, Jerry and company should do it. High reward, low risk type guy that could be a pass rushing specialist. If he turns out and makes the 53, might be one of those OMG guys that helps brings championships. We did bring in his running mate from there in Cominsky a DT.

why not a one handed LB made it?

Pierre over for the NYG played with one hand..one eye that hes learned to overcome for most of his life, not recently, if you can play you can play..worth a 5-7 rounder but im betting he doesnt last that long regardless of divisons and handicap, many low division school players and undrafted payers have made the HOF.. if you can play you will get a chance..im betting hes more appreciative and played twice as hard as that bonehead DI.. :)

The article is about a lot stuff. The player is just a very small part of it and not the main theme.

Still every article i find, even here in germany says he is (completely) blind on one eye. How come you think the opposite?

I was born blind in my right eye, granted I never played football but it has never stopped me from doing what I have wanted to do. Well one thing, Uncle Sam would not let me join the military but hey, i'm still a good shot!
