I can't help but wonder why in the world the NFL sees fit to have the 'Boys play vs. the Giants practically each and every year. It certainly does seem as though they'd want to deviate from that routine more than they do. After it occurs several times in a row, it gets boringly repetitive, although, as a 'Boys fan, I'll admit, I like the idea of starting the season off with a win. Overall, it's a mixed feeling that repeats altogether too often!:):)

We have a schedule of 16 games. We have to play them all at some point. It doesn't make a difference to me whom our opener is against. Of course the order matters in terms of you'd rather have tougher road games earlier and colder area road games earlier. I get why some could get tired of the Giants game always being the first or second game and at home usually but the ratings say people love it. I think our games with the Giants are always the most entertaining out of our East rivals. They aren't the best team but the games are always the most fun.
Yep, I am fine with it and the Giants' fans second favorite team is whoever is playing the Cowboys so they're getting a double.

I do not get the backlash against opening with them. It could be worse, we could have to wait until Sunday night to catch the game, this is better. And it's a division game, fans don't want to open with a 1-0 division record?

Simple, ratings. The game is among the highest rated of opening weekend and they like the positive sell of that to the fans.

If I were them, I'd keep doing it until it wasn't a success and they've got a pretty good matchup to promote, 2 of the 3 best RB's in the game squaring off. And Manning wanted to start off his final season as a Giant starter in the "house that Eli built".

To each his own. The Cowboys opener would be a success, regardless of whom they oppose. More variety would be suit me fine.

Oh, and completely do away with tradition???

If I were the NFL, I would have every opening game a division matchup and have every team play their last game against that opponent. The season has started sloppily for several years now with too many HC's treating the opener more as an extended pretend game. Division games matter for most teams, unless it's NE, and HC's do not want to open up 0-1 in the division.

Part of this is because this is April, come September and it's getting real, we'll just be excited to get the season started. I would much rather open against the Giants than the Bills or Jets but I would rather open on the road. The team struggled with that and preparing for an opener on the road adds a little to it.

so we start out game one division foe, 3 of four on the road, Rams Thanksgiving, right most likely after a Sunday night game in the middle of a long stretch, ridiculous as usual trying to find ways to put it to us.well I wanted rematch against the rams but not in the 3 game in 12 days short week stretch
Don't forget that the Rams will probably be coming off a bye week...

The two teams in last years's SB have the 28th (Rams) and the 31st (Patriots) toughest schedules.

2007 - Giants @ Cowboys
2012 - Cowboys @ Giants
2013 - Giants @ Cowboys
2015 - Giants @ Cowboys
2016 - Giants @ Cowboys
2017 - Giants @ Cowboys
2019 - Giants @ Cowboys?

This would be so boring and predictable if true.

There is nothing wrong with the traditional kicking the Giants butt on opeing weekend.
