Trade Byron Jones and a pick for Patrick Peterson for more turnovers?

I love having Byron Jones. I really feel he could get better and might even start getting turnovers. Patrick Peterson already does. He is 28 years old now vs Jones at 26. He is still elite. He has speed and athleticism like jones but the thing Patrick Peterson has on Jones is size and strength. He can tackle a big RB like Zeke by himself with no help. He can play vs the OBJs and Julio Jones of the league. This is the player that Jerry was looking for when he traded up for Mo Claiborne out of the same school LSU. If Byron Jones makes ou defense very good. Patrick Peterson in my opinion will take it up a notch. Peterson makes somewhere around 15 to 16 million a season. We will have to pay Byron Jones the same amount of money after this season. We have the money to do it and pay Dak after this season. I really feel trading for Peterson wouldn't be a mistake at all. Hes a generational corner not just a good corner who can make the pro bowl one or two times. I think he has made the pro bowl every or almost every year hes been in the league. He wanted to be a cowboy before he got drafted. Deion wanted the cowboys to draft him. I strongly think we should consider kicking the tires on a trade for Patrick Peterson but it may have to include Byron Jones or Awuzie who looks like he is becoming a stud. Its draft day today and Peterson wants to be traded. Would you guys trade for Peterson for Byron Jones and say a third?

Peterson doesnt want to stay with the cards. I've already stated I like Jones but this is sports. You are always looking for an upgrade. The market value is what Peterson is getting. The same thing wed pay for jones

Probably not because I like our CB's in Awuzie and Jones. I do like your thought process tho. I would make that deal for either Brown or Lewis but doubtful we would find a dance partner in the Cards.If we had a first round pick this year I would definitely entertain the idea but our 3'rd rounder should either be a DT or DE. Hoping for a S at 58

Hypothetical trades are silly. Trades rarely happen in the league, especially ones including pro bowl players. The salary cap is also a big roadblock with trades. That said I like this one. Would do it in a heartbeat. Never going to happen though.

I really dont think it will but I hope something happens. If Peterson doesnt want to be there I'd shop around. I just hope the cowboys would have a nice package to trade. I dont see a trade without shipping Jones or awuzie. Peterson with his size and speed and the ability to shut down receivers all over the field would make our defense in my eyes the best defense in the league. If Jerry and Co really say down and thought about the impact Peterson would make. I think they would at least kick the tires.

If there was actually any way that the Cardinals would ever take Jones (injured and in the last year of his deal) for Peterson and a 3rd rounder? It would be a heist.

He was rated above Peterson last season, so it really doesn't matter what our perception is. It matters how the league views the players.

Peterson has a lot of wear and tear compared to Jones (eight years in the league compared to four) and is a couple of years older. He had 54 tackles last year, 2 interceptions and 5 passes defensed. Jones had 67 tackles and 14 passes defensed. He was tied for seventh in that category, while Peterson was not even in the top 100.

The trade-off is Peterson is more of a playmaker while Jones is younger and considered an ascending player. The value would be pretty much even if you look at all aspects of the players. We would be getting the more seasoned played in a trade, but Arizona would be getting the player considered to have more top-end years and heading toward the peak of his career instead of downhill.

I know. I'd really give my second rounder and Byron Jones for him. I just think Peterson puts us in the SB, as far as talent on paper. He is the to defense what Julio Jones is to offense. He is the best corner in the game today in my opinion. I'd really hope that stephen or Jerry and co would think about kicking the tires on that. I could go on and on but just saying Patrick Peterson is like saying Zeke Elliott except he is on defense. I'd trade for him as along as its fair

The reason the Cowboys may deem Byron Jones expendable is because they have so many big contracts coming up, including his, and taking on Peterson's contract would not help with that.

OBJ, Dee Ford and Frank Clark were all traded in the last month or so. Those are some good players. Heck, we traded for Amari and he's been to a pro bowl. It's rare, but it does seem to be picking up.

I hear ya. I just remember deion basically saying Peterson wanted out but he cant just come out and say it like that because he still may have to play in Arizona if nothing happens basically because of his contract size
