McGovern looks like Zack the way he can redirect lineman and get to the second level.

With a healthy T -Fred and McGovern
playing LG... Zeke would have holes the size of a truck to run through.

To the delusional cheerleaders who like to pretend Jerry is a passive figurehead and his chubby son and the great Will McClay actually run this team, tune into the 13:55 mark of this video and observe. Ignore the fact Stephen can't even answer a phone correctly.

Stephen works the phone like a good secretary. He can't say yes or no to these offers. He's not the decision maker.

"Umm...let me call you back. I have to ask Dad."

He presents the trade offers to his Daddy. The real boss. The head coach seems open to one of the trade proposals but gets immediately shut down.

Then Stephen mentioned he'd be willing to go down 3 spots for a pick.

Not happening, as the REAL decision maker in Dallas, Till. Death. Do. They. Part., has made his decision.

"Let's keep Connor McGovern."

And so it is done. (Shout out to Will McClay, who is strangely absent in this.)

Now this isn't news to anyone reasonable, I know. I'm talking to our less fortunate right now. Those loving in their alternate reality because the real world offends their fandom.

So, to those bros.... Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Will mcclay is on his left. Stephen says fo we like Connor and Garrett bangs the desk says we love him.

Yes but let's be clear about this...

Jerry's only gonna know who Conner McGovern is BECAUSE of Will and the scouts. I mean, I knew who Conner was because he's a Penn Stater like me, and I got to see him every week. But you think Jerry has the time to evaluate these guys ala Gil Brandt? I doubt it.

But Jerry probably DID have the scout rankings in front of him and, to his credit IMO, made the right call going with McGovern.

But please, let's not even assume Jerry knew who McGovern was before his scouts told him so. Even when trading down to nab Kavika Pittman (and missing out on Tony Brackens), or drafting Shante Carver -- both horrifically bad moves and Jerry does deserve blame, but it probably wasn't all on him. He had to have been provided a scouting report by someone, i.e. a scout for the Cowboys.

Jerry's the magnet to be sure, in good times and bad, but it definitely helps to have a good scouting staff. Ergo Will McClay, the defacto GM.

...for better or worse. He's done well, but even Will "I'd take Taco over Watt" isn't infallible.

Stephen threw out the trade offers. Then asked about McGovern and got an instant unanimous decision.

You can read whatever you like into the situation, but it was instantaneously a unanimous decision.

This thread is just a troll thread.

Did not see it or hear it that way at all. He got some offers, brought them up to the group, and all voted unanimously to go with Conner. Flush. 3 times. Jerry wanted dez, Stephen said no. Jerry wanted tony, Stephen said dak. Does reality frighten you? Or does it just take away your dwindling influence on an opinion fueled site? I doubt you really understand alternate realities.

Well said. The o.p posts from his porcelain throne. Still sitting after 13:55. Can't imagine that. Can't be healthy.

Wait....

Steven threw out the trade offers. Garrett piped in immediately he preferred the deal with the Ravens. Jerry says let's keep McGovern. Stephen says he would go down three spots (taking the Jets deal). Stephen says do we like McGovern and everyone jumps on the bandwagon. There was no one that challenged Jerry. Not sure what you watched. Clear that Jerry is still the big dog if he wants something.

Based on the snippet...here were the offers.

The Jets were the team that offered 217 to us to go down to 93. I don't really see the benefit there.

The Ravens were the team that wanted us to go down to the bottom of the third in exchange for fifth and 6th. We would have gone down to 102 and picked up 160 and I think 197 (could have been 192 or 193 as the Ravens had all three of them at one point). That is the one Garrett said he was interested in. Would have been interesting if we had taken that. Might have been able to still get McGovern but there was a run on OL or could have got a S (Gardner-Johnson, Willis or Hooker) at 102. At 160 a board favorite was available in Charles Omenihu.

Jerry is the guy in your college group that contributed nothing to the project, but puts his name at the top of the paper.
If that guy was paying my salary I would have no issue with that.

They live in a fantasy world that they created.

That video kills all claims that anyone but Jerry Jones runs this team. He didn't care what Garrett had to say (I prefer Baltimore's offer) or what his son thought (I'd be willing to go down 3 spots for that pick) and Will knew not to even bother opening his mouth.

The boss spoke up and suddenly everybody in the room agreed with him. Like good little peons.

I never really understood why people would assume a billionaire, who craves attention, flies to high school games so he can land in his helicopter on a field where he probably owns the property title, and has appointed all his kids to run one of the most profitable sports franchises in the world in what is probably the most nepotistic organization at that kind of scale in Western civilization, and who made his fortune Wildcatting (you know he thinks he's an amazing gambler, and I bet he's a terrible card player), would ever give up the actual fun part of running the team.

I mean, i don't really care if people think it one way or the other. I just couldn't ever believe it.

McClay basically aggregates all the info, runs the scouts, etc. Makes it easily digestible so it can be mixed with JW Blue on Draft Day. He also has to make Jerry think he's making the smart decision, which is probably like living in a real life nightmare.

Most owners leave it to the GM, scouts and coaches though.
to be fair, some owners leave the draft and trades to the gm and HC, but not all of them do, and they all meddle to a certain extent.
Jerry just takes it to the extreme.

The Minn vikings had a good HC, almost got to the sb with farve, but the bounty saints beat them, playing dirty.
It was the next year or so, that HC was fired due to he cut a player without checking with the owner first lol.
That was almost as bad as jerry running off Jimmy.

SF more or less ran off their HC forget his name, but you all know.
Both of those teams went down the toilet and have yet to get back to where they were with those HC's. Same as Dallas.

Synder took over the draft for this year, I think he wanted haskins no matter what.

So it isnt just Jerry, but Jerry just takes it to a whole different level, and is very public about it too.
