He may be totally honest with his answer, but, given the question asked what would be the alternative answer? It's akin to asking someone publicly what they think about their wife. You're only getting one answer regardless of the situation.

Thinking the fo is outlining its position prematurely is naivete at its extreme. We heard about tank's deal locally, from espn, nfl network, pff, pft and a host of other sources. We heard of zack's and dez from other sources as well. We heard of brees' deal, Wilson's, cousins and so forth. There are no secrets. It's fair to take a shot at Jerry for past deals, but this isn't one of them. At least not logically.

They were sold on Chad Hutchinson at one point too and then Jerry hired a real coach and he was gone.

I'll never forget that scene on Hard Knocks when our village idiot GM was on the phone talking about the very real possibility that he has two franchise QBs in Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson.

Then they cut to the next scene of Pete Hunter trying to order a cheesesteak at McDonald's.

I agree. I'm not entirely sold on Dak (not that it matters) but people bringing up Hutchison and Weeden are going to the extreme.

Praise in public, criticize in private.

The fact that Jerry speaks kindly about his players in public doesn't automatically mean he's unwilling to offer criticism in private. Good managers don't publicly criticize their employees. Even when cutting Dez Bryant a couple of years ago, the Cowboys spoke well of him publicly. Nothing wrong with that. Jerry doesn't owe fans access to his innermost thoughts.

You don't need to "criticize" Dak - again, the fact that you folks can't think of ANY other way than thinking in either/or's shows the lack of imagination.

How hard is it to just mention that you liked what you've seen of Dak the past few years and you're excited to see what happens in 2019? This is better than, in the middle of a contract negotiation where you want a TEAM FRIENDLY DEAL, you say you're already sold.

Jerry just spouts off. He's been doing this for decades and it really has never led to good. This is the same dude who thought it was a good idea to allow strippers to take pictures of him in a bathroom.
