Pearson and Harris were bunched in a group that includes Al Wistert, Randy Gradishar, Mike Curtis, Jimbo Covert, Tommy Nobis, Joe Klecko and another ex-Cowboys great, linebacker Chuck Howley.

Pearson was a first-team All-Pro three times and helped the Cowboys to three Super Bowl appearances. However, he is the only offensive player from the First Team to not have been elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Harris appeared in five Super Bowls and was selected to six consecutive Pro Bowls. I believe he is the only defensive player from the All-70's Team not in the Hall of Fame.

Howley, by the way, was a six-time Pro Bowler, a five-time All-Pro and a Super Bowl MVP.

I imagine it has a lot to do with his drug problems. Unfortunately, if voters have a poor perception of a player, that player can be left out.

As a former working member of the press I know there is an anti-Cowboys bias - and its because most football writers are from the East Coast. Most of them grew up loathing the Cowboys. And the proof is the All-Decade Team thing from the 1970s. It doesn't get any clearer, Drew Pearson and Cliff Harris should be in.

I'd argue Martin, Howley and Woodson should also be in (in that order), but there's no chance in hell more than 2 Cowboys are getting in - even with an expanded field for 2020.

But that’s what makes the HOF so exclusive. Not everyone gets in. And it’s never too late.

Pearson and Harris are strictly second tier.

Pearson is interesting in that his statistics don't jump out as indicating a must for the HOF, but neither do Lynn Swann's stats and he got in. The reality is both were worthy of consideration largely for their big game and clutch performances. I guess Pearson didn't have the higher profile Super Bowl highlight catches Swann did.

I always through Lee Roy got shafted not only in the HOF voting, but in Pro-Bowl and All-Pro voting. I think he had the unfortunate circumstance of playing at the same time as Butkus and Nitshke, and those were the guys that got all the attention at MLB.

Perception is everything.

There are a couple of others, but they have less than 6 Pro Bowl selections.
