Deep Passing Stats 2017

The parameters of this guy’s analysis is fundamentally flawed anyways. Your supposedly looking at proficiency at throwing the “deep ball” yet you include passes of just 16-19 yards.

If the low-end of what you’re considering a “deep ball” is as little as 16 yards then your resulting analysis/conclusion is flawed.

That’s like titling a paper “Best BLT Sandwiches 2018” and then including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the analysis.

I didn't want to start another thread on Dak so I dropped this here.

Definitely some improvement post the Cooper trade but I'd still like to see more improvement in TD passes and YPA. Oh and sacks have to come down - yes, that's part OL but Dak has to get better with his pocket awareness IMO.
 
The kid is an absolute winner. It's about getting better, the pressure leading America's Team, the mental toughness. I think he was the best quarterback in last year's playoffs.
 
If anything it's Prescott's intermediate throw over the linebacker before the corner, that's what I think he needs the most work at. I like that he throws the ball on a rope and not lollipop put up for grabs. I can't wait to see how many homes does now that we know of middle pressure destroys him. He's the only competition in the young group of quarterbacks everybody else is equal.

If someone is trying to analyze a QB’s proficiency at completing deep passes/throws, looking at 16-20 yard passes only screws the analysis.

It’s like trying to determine which running back makes the most “big plays” and then looking at runs of just 10+ yards.

I can give you all the statistics on Prescott short passes intermediate passes. You won't like those numbers either. The kid is a winner

No need to. The analysis already shows that. I’d say anything between roughly 16-25 yards is an “intermediate” pass and it appears Dak is relatively proficient at those type of distance throws.
 
Rather than the PPF type ranks and stats, I myself prefer to go more with my own eyes on tape. Give me full complete game youtubes where the full game tape play by play, down by down, series by series is available to me and I can personally and visually see how dak is pushing the ball downfield on 15-20 yrd deep seam passes and how often or accurately he is making attempts to challenge defenses over the top.. Stats on paper may not always tell you if it’s a 8 yard cooper pass that is turned into a 24 yrd catch based off Cooper’s RAC.

I still say it's his intermediate past that needs the most work. That little touch ball over the linebacker before the corner. And if the statistics are good on paper what does that tell you. He's not a bad quarterback at all. I think the kid is our winter

Drastic difference especially when you look at it from the rankings perspective.

The INT ranking appears to be total INTs and includes QBs that didn't have significant passing attempts.

For the season, QBs with 2 or more starts:
Ints per Pass Attempt: Dak ranked 7th.

For QBs that started at least 3/4 of the season:
Int/Att: Dak ranked 4th

These are Air Yards meaning that passes in the 16+ category traveled at least 16 yards in the air.

It's all games going back several years.

It includes the coaches film which is the All-22 and overhead views and it includes the Broadcast view.

This with and without Cooper adjustment made me wonder about the with and without Zeke in 2017 stats for Dak.

Dak 2017 Games with and without Zeke:

There are stats for that, too: average completed air yards (CAY), average intended air yards (IAY), longest completed air distance (LCAD), etc..

Next gen stats: average completed yards
