I finally dropped Directv after subscribing to them for going on two decades, basically for their Sunday Ticket. Even so, I do not blame them for the cost of NFL programming though. That is the NFL's fault.

The league granted Directv exclusive rights to air their games in exchange for $1.5 billion a year broadcast fee. Essentially, Directv has zero competition to regulate their pricing philosophy. Directv can charge whatever they want without another competitor offering alternative lower pricing to consumers.

Pro football consumers' best opportunity will be if-and-when the NFL offers all their entire on-demand product to cable networks and/or streaming services in addition to Directv.
