How would Dak handle the scrutiny of being the highest paid player in the league?

Ben and Skin on The Fan, which carries the Cowboys games, said their sources say Dak's agency is demanding he be the highest-paid player in the NFL.

They are asking for more than $36 million per year.

No thanks. Let him play for $900K this year, and if proves himself, you just saved$35 million you can scatter over the next years when you pay him $40 million pretty year.

Or, if he falls flat, you saved your franchise's cap future.
Yeah I'm pro Dak but no way in HELL does he deserve that. Let him play it out if that's the case. 32.5 million is where I'd be willing to go and even that is too high. However, he is not taking anything less than Wentz.

I didn’t include the Eagles game.

The 7th game I’m referring to was the 2018 regular-season finale, Cowboys-Giants. Dak had 387 Pass yds, 4 TD, 0 INT that day.

Yep, 4-3 without Zeke.

Cooper Rush has zero chance of going 4-3 in any 7-game sample size. He could have Emmitt in his prime and he still wouldn’t go 4-3.

Neither could Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel or any other stiff we’ve trotted out there as a backup recently. Regardless of who is lining up at RB.

It’s funny how the narrative is, “Dak needs Zeke!” The opposite is MUCH more true, as it pertains to actually, you know, winning football games.
Against a team of guys that left for Vegas the minute the game ended.

That was a glorified preseason game.

LOL had Dallas lost that game, it would still count against Dak’s record. Especially in the eyes of his detractors.

Even though it was just as “meaningless” to Dallas as it was to the Giants.

4-3 without Zeke. Like it or not.

Tom Brady's salary cap hit this season is $27 million..............If Dak's agent believes he's worth $6 million dollars more , he's either mentally ill or the most delusional person in human history....................

At least Zeke has proven he can be the best RB in the league....
Dak is 4-3 without Zeke.

Go ahead and tell us that you think Dallas would go 4-3 or better if Dak sat for 7 games, with Zeke in the lineup.

I dare you. Say it and become an even bigger joke.

Dak would be a fool to not sign a contract before the start of the season. that is a big bet. If he gets hurt, regresses, or has even a similar season like last year he will lose money. I like the guy and I really hate that Dallas has to decide this after 3-4 years.

Hard to believe this is not just speculation. Would love to hear a number from Dak's agent vs media with a claimed source.

Not to mention, in the 7 games without Zeke Dak only managed 9 TD passes. 4 of them came in the meaningless exhibition against the Giants. In the 6 games that the other team actually cared about, Dak averaged less than a touchdown pass per game.

IMO only , they both need each other.................................They make quite a formidable duo , and I don't believe either one would be as good without the other.........................

It will probably get done around 31-32

Regardless of how you feel about Dak, it’s hard to justify being the highest paid player when you’re not the best player in the league.

I just can’t see even see him saying that privately, and he doesn’t strike me as that kind of guy.
It's totally his agent saying this. Mike Fisher said it best the other day...eventually these players are going to have to tell their agent "I'm good let's just get this done with". I'd be stunned if he isn't signed by week 1.

I like Dak. I like a lot of the things he does but I'm still not certain about him. I'd still wait until after the season until we know more. This is his 4th season. He really should make great strides this year . If he doesn't I don't know how you can mortgage the future on him.

The way journalists know anything. From their sources.

No idea if they are right or not but it's not that complicated.

Which side you think is telling “Ben and Skin” the details of a delicate negotiation? Neither of them would. Which is why you get stories like this one—or the one we had about the impasse on the Lawrence deal earlier in the offseason...right up until a deal got done. Because they’re guys don’t actually have real access to any inside information.

It isn’t complicated. It just takes a bit of common sense. Ben and Skin don’t have a seat at the table. They don’t have access to a seat at the table.

Erod likes to drum up the speculation. Will believe it when confirmed.
