Look I understand holding out to get treated fairly. But Dak and Zeke both want to be the TOP paid player EVER at their position. At least Dak is here taking care of business while he makes his demand while Zeke relaxes in the Mexican sun. Lets be clear about my position here. They both deserved to be highly paid because they bring in a ton of money for the Cowboys. But they also benefit from all previous Cowboys that gave them the platform they have today.

So while they complain that they refuse to accept a top 10 contract ticket prices rise, fans salaries don't increase and the gap between the have's (the players) and their fans increases. So I ask the question. How much money is enough? Everytime someone gets a contract the next person DEMANDS a bigger one. This soaks the fans who are ultimately paying the bill through ticket prices, merchandise and purchasing the products that the team and players endorse.

So finally Why Do the Players have to get more than anyone else ever? It screams of greed and a lack of caring that we have a balanced team or who ultimately pays those exponentially higher contracts each year.

Curiously, nobody uses this logic on the owners, who make more than any player by an order of magnitude. Why does player greed upset you but owner greed not? You're quibbling over millions when the owners are worth BILLIONS.

Free enterprise and business. Owners want to make more money. Business owners, CEOs and all other levels you will find people that want to be paid. Many of them are ok with taking the average per their industry but then you have those that want to set the market. I do not any issues where anyone positions themselves.

I don't see it as a problem.

It's a billion dollar sport that's continuously growing and each team has the same amount of money and how they break up that money is up to them.

Dak and Zeke can be as greedy as they want but the problem is Zeke plays a position that is pretty stupid to invest a lot of resources in and while Dak plays QB he is ultimately a product of those around him and Dallas should value those around him more then his conservative style of play.

The truth is that player and owners are both groups of adults that are trying to maximize their return on investment. There's literally nothing else to it, and neither side is "better" than the other. You either believe in capitalism or you don't.

I do agree that Zeke especially may just be overplaying his hand. It's not like Bell going scorched earth got him anything but a similar deal to what he would have gotten anyway, but now playing on the Jets and out a year's worth of paychecks for his trouble.

Some have been conditioned to worship the wealth of ownership at their own detriment.

Exercise for thought insert "ownership" every where you have "players"...

We all know the wealth gap between ownership, players and fans stays constant:facepalm:

Roger Goodell will make $200M by the end of his current extended deal, making him the highest paid commish in NFL history. The owners cut that check off of the fans revenue as well. If he can make that money, then the players ABSOLUTELY deserve to maximize their earnings.

If you don't like sports-as-big-business, don't watch the NFL, because it hasn't been anything else since like the 1980s or something.

World class athletes are ultimate competitive. The bigger contract thing is another way to beat their opponent. Either that, or it's just the money! Lol

....the money thing now makes football complicated. Blame it on American Democracy. The more you have, the more you want. What I'm seeing the players are like moths to the fire. They dont think for themselves but let the agents do that for them. Its a copy cat league. I remember when Brady got paid a bundle, then came Rodgers, Cousins and so forth.

Now the tables have turned to DL, LB's, WRs and RB's. All wanting in the game. They should implement per-requistes to players wanting more. Say, if you made the pro-bowl 3X's and led the league in sacks, tackles ..etc. Then you can ask for $$$

Now that player wants more because Billy Blue Buffus of Buffalo is getting top dollar and has only been in the league 2 yrs.

Ultimately, the cap provides for everyone to get paid pretty fairly. Breaking your cap down by % of how much you are willing to spend on each position is how you have to do it to keep everything balanced. You can skew the numbers a little by going heavy at one position & light at another. But players & agents acting like every player can get the top deal is just ludicrous.

It doesn't work that way in any business i have ever been around. God knows I've been the best employee any of them have ever had!!

Reasons:
#1 Agents
#2 Status
#3 Peer Pressure

Player "Greed" is way down the list of reasons.

Agents: They sell the player on how the team is screwing them over.

Status: Contracts are status in Pro Sports and most players are hyper competitive.

Peer Pressure:
- Other players (sometimes due to their agents) "scold" or "shame" players that take less than the Max.
- Friends & family constantly tell Pro Athletes how great they are and that they deserve the biggest contracts.

Plus nothing makes teams pay these guys if they ask for too big a share of the salary cap. Owners and GMs get fixated on certain stars just like fans do, but the graveyards are full of "indispensable" men. Smart management just moves on from those guys.

Eventually the gravy train is going to end when things get so expensive that people stop spending their money on it. The "I want more for me" game hurts fans more than the owners and players.
